Movado watch repair??

I have a Movado watch (my wife's) that needs to be checked out and repaired, any recommendations for a reputable watch shop. It's battery operated quartz movement so I'm hoping it's not going to be a fortune to get it fixed.

Thanks

So, needs a new battery?

What's the back look like, replacing a battery is usually pretty easy. Most any watch shop should be able to manage that if you don't want to do it.

That's where I send one, an old one of my dad's. It came back looking and running like new.

Any mall watch kiosk should be able to do it.

I believe Movados and I sure some other watches need to have their batteries replaced in a vacuum. Any jewelery store can do it or send it out.

There is a funny video of an astronaut repairing an Omega in space-the battery floats up when he pops it out of the movement.

But watch batteries don't get replaced in a vacuum. A good facility will check for water resistance after changing the battery, and properly done that will include a test using both vacuum and pressure. I've never seen a mall kiosk set up so.

Little known fact; Movado is a word in Esperanto, it means 'always in motion'.

I knew a vacuum was use at some point. It's been a few years since my Movado worked. The first battery I let the pros replace. The second one I did myself.

The Movado saga continues. I bought this watch for may wife a number of years ago, probably 20+, thought it was a really nice timepiece and thought Movado was good manufacturer. Can't remember what I paid but pretty certain it was not cheap for a stainless and gold watch, quartz movement. Well, have been communicating with the Movado service facility and they are now telling me after having the watch for three weeks that they still have not found the parts as the watch is "old" and not sure they will have all parts for repair. I've never heard that line from the Rolex service center. Perhaps I should take it back to Tourneau and see if they want it for a very light paperweight.

Never heard something quite so silly for a perceived quality product. Can't wait to see what the repair bill will be if they come up with the parts. What really pisses me off is that I bought it as a birthday present and thought I was giving her something as a lasting momento, well guess I got screwed on that. Looking pretty silly, I'm embarassed too tell her that I gave her a POS many years ago, just kidding, but that's the way I feel. Lucky for me she's just as happy with a nice Timex.

No more Movado's for me!
