Now might be a good time to re-post this. My 16 year old daughter just got her license and I've made her watch this video three times. So far.
Not for the faint-hearted but is worth watching.

Good that this is a repost. We have a cell phone, but don't text. About the only time we take the phone with us is when we're going somewhere. If we're alone, phone is off when driving. If we're together, Cindy uses the phone while I drive.

Had some biotch in front of us today, on the freeway, texting or doing something with her phone. Kept slowing down and then speeding up weaving into the other lane and the shoulder. I couldn't believe the irony of this situation. When we FINALLY were able to pass her my wife told me what was going on. I seriously thought she drunk or having medical issues.

When I had my Blackberry I did send emails as well as talk. I was covering 10 counties and needed to get/give information throughout the day. It just wasn't feasible to stop EVERY time.

Now, I only have a cell phone but I barely use it. It stays in the work truck during the day and in the car when we go as a family. Heck, I barely answer it anymore.

My wife is about the only person that calls me anymore. It's kind of liberating, actually.

I'm not good enough at texting to even want to try - to be honest. Its just I feel there are people out there that could do it safely. Following distance, traffic, amount the road changes direction, risk of animals, etc, all play a part.

In my opinion, a lot of the people involved in accidents while texting - would likely get into an accident anyway. They are so distracted, cannot focus on the road, etc. Its not the texting - that is just a sympton. I have a friend who texted a lot and drove - she wrecked and totaled her car - she was not texting at the time. Just the personality of some one who feels they HAVE to get that text out while driving is more likely to wreck - even if you take away the texting.

I say the same thing about folks that crash when the roads are snow covered.

They drive like idiots even when it's dry so it makes sense that they would crash.
