IDEAS please.....
scenario:
my girl bought her business 2 years ago this weekend. she is one tough broad and i am super proud of her and want to celebrate. she has fought through quite a bit in a strained economy and forges onward......... im pretty sure im going with a dinner cruise on the bay.... 4 course dinner and dancing while in dress-up clothes..... but since all you guys are pretty sharp i thought i pick a pelican collective brain and see what manifests........ thoughts or ideas? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1267135638.jpg |
Did you buy a ring?
If not, you should. |
Unless those dinner cruises offer a berth, I'd pass. j/k...sounds like a great outing.
You two make a very nice couple. Oh yeah...congrats on her keeping going during this recession. |
you can dance..
and your willing to dance... she's going to have a great time.. tell her the P guys said.. you go girl ! Rika |
paul...... no ring yet but depending what happens next quarter the ring is on her finger, i appreciate the comment... she is KEEPER for sure,...im no rookie at 42 and single from 21 to present..... there are very FEW like her... and i know it.
jim,... i wasnt expecting that at all but thanks, SHE makes us look nice... not sure why she is with an ugly mug like me but i am NOT complaining.... and we BOTH have had to keep things going in the market we find ourselves... my business really picked up this quarter...im happy. thanks rika!... i will. any ideas are welcome fellas..... |
Alex - Congrats to both of you! You guys look great together. Everything looks perfect, except that tie, dude. JK!
I think the dinner cruise is a great idea. Only thing I could think of that you might consider is a surprise flight to SF for the night. Fly out in the afternoon. Get to the hotel. Late dinner, then party back in the room. Fly back in the morning. Thoughts? |
Take flowers when you pick her up. Phone the cruise/restaurant have them bring out a whatever-they-can-do to celebrate dessert.

I like the idea of a dinner cruise. Good plan.
Is there a band on the cruise? Do you two have "a song"? Is there a little extra folding money in your budget to tip the band to play "your song"? What are you doing after the cruise, do you have a plan, somewhere to go (if it's not too late)? How about a nice dessert, or a glass of cognac, something special, somewhere quiet and elegant? (And remember Patrick Swayze's advice in Roadhouse - "Be Nice") Have fun! |
hey richard!.... what a nice surprise....... pretty amazing how 3 months have gone by since you hosted out SOCG dinner..... i love your idea about going to the city..... the glitch with that is that we are in the city pretty often as that is where i am originally from and all my family is there so we go up pretty often and spend alot of time in the city so i dont know if thats the ticket for us this weekend.... good idea though..... hope all is well with you and lily!
ooooohhhh by the way richard....... kelly is getting his car back today (remember he was rear-ended in december) and scott, chris, luis, paul are getting together for dinner at el toritos in newport across from john wayne airport at 6:30.... can you make it? |
imcarthur, good idea.... flowers are in!.... (you get credit but it was in the plan!)
herr, Is there a band on the cruise? yes Do you two have "a song"? yes Is there a little extra folding money in your budget to tip the band to play "your song"? yes What are you doing after the cruise, do you have a plan, somewhere to go (if it's not too late)? How about a nice dessert, or a glass of cognac, something special, somewhere quiet and elegant? its a 4 hour cruise so i think i am gonna be in a rush to get her home..... well most likely wont wait to get her home...... hahaha. (And remember Patrick Swayze's advice in Roadhouse - "Be Nice") love that line/movie Have fun! thanks brother.... we will ha.... i didnt think i would get much of a response.... thanks guys!....... maybe i will take and post some pictures........ and richard i will keep the tie thing in mind... although i LOVE the tie you commented on...... :( |

First, what a lovely woman. I bet she is smarter than she is pretty.
Me, I'd get her out of her comfort zone...desert or mountains. With a view. Regardless, you are with her. |
GREAT idea wayne!!........ funny you mention that..... the picture i posted WAS on a cruise.........
|
You two look really happy together. I'd go with the dinner cruise and dancing.
|
Congratulations to your girlfriend for growing her business in this economy! all good ideas above, and I echo to get that ring, women like this are very hard to find. every entrepreneur is different, but all feel the weight of the company, especially in the first few years. In addition to you two celebrating together, I'd go all out and get her a spa day where she feels like a queen for a day and can relax into herself.
cute couple, have fun! |
no recommendations to slap the cratch?
|
i like IAN's idea. call the dinner ship company. ask them what they can do.
you two are a great looking couple! |
end the night at the hyatt regency in huntington beach and schedule a couple's massage for the next day.
|
Take her to Catalina for the weekend.
|
Make sure the band plays her song and dedicates it to her. You may also want to get her a series of gifts to be given throughout the evening - a special necklace, a Monte Blanc that she can use to sign her franchise agreements with, a photo-album you have made with pics starting at the beginning of your relationship to that day, a glass rose, a poem from you (don't worry, its doesn't have to rhyme - leave out a few conjunctions and punctuation, it'll be fine!), I could go on but I think you get the idea. Make it special, have some fun with it, make it so she can brag to all her friends for weeks to come!
