What's the best way to get paid for Ebay purchase from international buyer?

I'm about to launch an Ebay auction that should close for $1500 or so. All the talk about Paypal's shenanigans have me nervous. My buyer will likely be out of the US. What's the best way to safely receive payment?

Bank transfer. Open a special account at your bank for receiving the transfer. Once the transfer is complere, close the account.

Wire transfer, I have one checking account just for this sort of thing. Once payment is made I pull all the money, but $5 and put it into another account. If someone is out to rob me, all they will get is $5.

That is how I bought my 911. Secure & easy for the seller or buyer.

Are thieves somehow able to withdraw money from an account they've wired money into?

No. you can call your bank and ask if the money has been irrevocably deposited into your account.

$1500, hmm, selling another orange bar badge? (lol).

I sold a guitar to a guy in Germany about seven years ago. He got a cashier's check drawn on an American bank in Germany and mailed it. I took it to their branch here and cashed it. No problem.
