This was posted a long time back and the general concensus was that it was fake

URY914 02-27-2010 09:17 AM

Kewk...sporty car guy documented harassment of the peckerwoods as well as his own commission of an armed robbery.

They qualify perfectly. It might be fake and they might be Canadian, but they couldn't have represented the term any better.

Nostril Cheese 02-27-2010 11:07 AM

Fake.

No Newfie would act like this..

pwd72s 02-27-2010 11:19 AM

I agree...fake. Funnier than hell, tho...

(edit) I'd like to add that I live in "redneck" country. Nobody with a lifted pickup ever hassled me when in the P-car. Sure got a raft of crap from a P-car guy who shall remain nameless. I got even with the pretentious, arrogant, phoney piece of caca.

Canadians . . . rednecks

Canada does not have rednecks. We have many entertaining geographic 'tribes' but no rednecks. Newfoundlanders, backwoods Quebecois, Ontario city slickers & rural farmers, western cattle & oil cowboys, BC hippies, native Inuit etc etc to name just a few. True rednecks only breed in the southeast US imho.

Fake. After, what self-respecting redneck would be caught dead driving a Toyota P/U? Oh, wait... :p

I think what you are referring to are Hillbillies. Rednecks live near my neck of the woods. In fact I am sometimes confused for one.

"redneck" used to describe guys who work outdoors in dangerous & heavily physical jobs. Loggers, high steel, roughnecks on oil rigs, etc. Came because of the sunburned necks...

speedracing944 02-27-2010 05:40 PM

Actually "redneck" refers to the Scottish from 17th century.

The Covenanters of 17th century Scotland prescribed to this ideology and are the true founders of the "Redneck" movement. The Covenanters rejected the Church of England as their sanctioned church. In doing so, they also refused to be ruled by bishops which was the conventional method of church government. Many of the self determined Covenanters signed documents with their own blood that rejected episcopacy and demanded a Presbyterian Church government. To show their allegiance in this movement the Covenanters began wearing red pieces of cloth around their necks and were appropriately called "Rednecks." Out of defiance, the original redneck was born.
