Yep, that was about right. After my first Triumph I should have learned, but I bought two more...

Why do the British drink warm beer? Because they have Lucas refrigerators.

Toggle switches in British cars have 2 positions: off & off.

A reality check for me. I was thinking about my two Austin Healey 100-4's and '59 TR3 from long ago and getting all nostalgic. Started looking at pics of the '54/'55 MG TF1500's thinking it might be cool to have one to tool around in. Maybe not.

As a counterpoint, I never had a speck of electrical trouble with my 72 TR6, which was my daily driver for 3 years, 1981-1983.

ive put probably 40,000 miles on my TR4 in the last 10 years.....only issue has been a generator and voltage regulator going out. ...and believe it or not, the local NAPA had them in stock. fixed same day!

Back in the early '60's we had a '54 MG-TF that had regular generator problems( my fault). Fortunately they were available for less than $20.00 at the Main Sears store in Philadelphia.

Best,
Tom

Best thing I ever did for my '73 TR6 was install a Crane optical electronic ignition, and a Hitachi alternator for a Nissan truck.

I learned how to drive on a '75 Triumph TR6. That was a very cool little car and had a nice sound. The horn has a wimpy sound when it worked. The signals worked well when they wanted to.

Now I have my new MINI. I hope some of the German pedigree wore off on it.

I owned 2 TR's; a 4 and a 250. The electrical wasn't really the biggest problem, the biggest problem was that both of them were old British cars, whose useful life was really over. Fun, but I was just a kid and couldn't afford either of them. (but I did get to experience the joys of pulling a tranny out of the cockpit of the '4 to replace the clutch! Good times!)

Actually, most are three position switches....dim, flicker, and off.
