why do i break out in a cold sweat dealing with the dept of justice?

HOLY CRAP! it feels like walking into the principle's office!

i recently submitted a request for my list of registered firearms. being in cali, i want/need to be fully legit across the board. my list should be short, since most of my stuff is shotguns and hunting rifles. i just received a letter asking for a copy of my DL. damn, new sweating session, did they find something? are they singling me out? the ques are feeding my paranoia! hahahha.. i just talked to some lady, to ask some questions.. i basically need to know if my handguns are legit. i moved, and lost paperwork, memory is crap...yada yada.

i have a glock on the way, and don't want to raise any eyebrows, with "the man". sucks walking under their microscope voluntarily.

To each their own.

What business is it of theirs? Seriously.

Rick Lee 03-01-2010 10:51 AM

I can't believe anyone complies (collaborates) with those criminals.

Leland Pate 03-01-2010 11:07 AM

This sounds like a story you'd expect to hear in some lost eastern block province. Nope, it's just California.

Just to help clarify things for the rest of us. re "i recently submitted a request for my list of registered firearms", should you have written "I was recently requested to submit a list of my registered firearms"? The other way it reads like you don't know what firearms you possess (I wouldn't mind asking for a list of the ones I own myself but I can't imagine who would have a complete list; note to self, better do that personal inventory).
Can offer sympathy about government agents 'prying' into your firearm affairs, have been through ATF compliance checks the past two years, have been promised another one this year.

Another clarification: He's referring to the CALIFORNIA DOJ, not the U.S. DOJ. The Feds and the other 49 states don't really care what we own (assuming not Class III).

no, i need to know what i have registered and what isnt registered. i requested the information. i came from texas, traded firearms with family members..it got a bit confusing. i registered some handguns, and i do not remember receiving any confirmation, which i should have. yes, it is CALI DOJ

Danny_Ocean 03-01-2010 07:04 PM

Isn't it comforting knowing the CalNazi's have a list of what you own? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...watch/nazi.jpg

Exactly! Its none of their business and now YOU are on their list for owning a bunch of guns.

Why in the world would anyone do this on their own is a good question but this is NOT a good thing IMHO!

vash 03-02-2010 08:22 AM

joe. if anything bad should happen...like a badguy comes at me, and i shoot him. i need my ducks lined up perfectly.

Vash,

Its not the "bad guys" we are concerned with. Its the state of Kalifornia who will come knocking after they pass another idiotic law. Something like "no citizen of kooksville can own more than one pistol, rifle and shotgun."

Then the wonderful cops will come around to each door where there is a weapon registered and take your extra's. They will not come alone...

Do not tell them ANYTHING. You are screwing yourself! They simply do not need to know and are fishing for info.

i hear you. i talked to a SF cop guy. he said, in my wonderful state, if i shoot a home intruder, i will spend the first night in jail. they will take the time to check my paperwork, and the shooting circumstances.

sucks, but i live here. the city of SF tried to ban handguns. as far as i know, they did...just nothing became of it. crappy stuff. you're preaching to the choir. i have earthquakes, and the DOJ to worry about.

Things must have changed. My dad was an Oakland cop for 25 years. He never even brought a citizen into the department for questioning. He just took a statement at the scene.

Oh come on Moses... you are ruining this whole "I hate California" thread by interjecting facts!

He retired many years ago. Maybe things are different now. I can't imagine a person spending the night in jail after shooting an intruder. Bizarre.

Leland Pate 03-02-2010 03:45 PM

No, you're right Scott. CA is a totally friendly gun owner state.

Leland Pate 03-02-2010 03:45 PM

Or were you just referring to the "spending the night in jail" comment?

No, I was referring to the fact the I am a native Californian and I own several guns.

And it is a (somewhat) free country... if you don't like the laws in any particular state you can move to one the suits you better.

Agreed that things are tough here... but not like some countries where guns are outlawed all together.

He is required to register or be in compliance.

Thats what the Nazi's said in 1936 in Germany.

The next year they came around and siezed all the weapons owned by the public.

It's the law. Registration is required in some California jurisdictions and statewide your weapons must be on the "approved" list...that's (one of the reasons) why I don't live there:

Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale - Firearms Division - California Dept. of Justice - Office of the Attorney General

Again, thats what the Nazi's said. Then once they knew where the weapons were, they came and took them.

Why do the authorities need to know how many guns you have in your home? Its NONE of their business!

So...tell it to the California legislature (or the Nazi Party). I'm just stating the facts, ma'am...

Please do not get me wrong, I agree with you here. Just do not agree with the "1984 mentality" in many states. I have turned down MANY jobs in places like Kalifornia, NYC, Jersey and so on because of their restrictive laws and rules.
