This guy is a world class idiot. If you read his letter, you'd have a hard time believing it was written by an actual attorney, as no attorney I know would sign something as poorly written as that one.

He seems to be the head of a firm of ambulance chasers:

Auto Accident Lawyers Houston - Ogletree Abbott Law Firm

I think what we need is the Pelican equivalent of a trunk monkey with the optional tire iron. Any Houston Pelicans want to volunteer for a bit of fun?

I prefer to think that the murderer would say "come here sweetheart" and move closer.

Reminds me of a tale about the meek, timid investment banker sent away to prison for embezzlement. They threw him in prison and his cell mate was a burly, tatooed, 6'5", 280 lb career criminal as evidenced by many years working out lifting weights in the "yard."

The timid investment banker was frightened beyond words looking at this mountain of a con. The convict looks at the slight, white collar criminal and says "You wanna be da husband or you wanna be da wife?"

The banker was scared but weighing the options he finally whspered, "I guess I'll be the husband."

The con replied, "O.K. husband...come over here and suck yo wife's *****.":D

some other lawyer, any lawyer, should file a suit against this douchebag, on the ground of causing bad rep to lawyers in general....

911Rob 03-05-2010 12:29 PM

fwiw, I dont hate lawyers, I love my lawyers; and Due is one of the best guys on this site and he's a lawyer. Reminds me of another post where someone said they hated realtors. Pretty much a stupid and ignorant statement to make for a thread title imo.

sorry I didnt read any of the posts, just wanted to add my support to those that may practise the profession; especially the Dueller.

RWebb 03-05-2010 12:53 PM

huh - he also says he was badly treated by a waitress AND YET he fails to sue her for that!!

this moron is lucky they didn't treat his coat as a bomb threat and toss him in a lockup for a while (naturally, you would keep a suspect in custody while you waited for the results from the bio-weapons and radiological laboratories to come back - could take weeks or months...)

The writing is not that bad. I think the theory of recovery is a bit of a strech, but not impossible. This is not a reflection on lawyers, but Americans' in general who refuse to take responsibility for thier own actions. If he is a plaintiff's lawyer, his realty is worse than most.

You're lucky for not being subpenised (as so many here are) for not comprehending and agreeing that, as the thread title states, "This is why we hate lawyers".

If a Latvian robbed a cotton candy concession stand would it not be appropriate to post "This is why we hate Latvians". Yes, many Latvians do rob cotton candy concession stands - but - there are several hundred law abiding Latvians who don't (and many of them live near fairgrounds where annual temptation is great).

It is the Latvian cotton candy concession stand robbers who make us hate Latvians, seeng them as no more than a bunch of sticky fingered evil doers, just as it is lawyers like this one who make us hate Lawyers.

So, what aren't you understanding?

By the way, will you argue that Latvian lawyers are not the worst of the worst?

Dondarnell sounds like a Latvian name - well, that explains a lot!

DARISC 03-05-2010 04:05 PM

Well, I just read the article and, damn! I passed through Houston airport on that day and found a real expensive black leather coat in a pizza concession stand (right next to a cotton candy concession stand), an XL Polo model (with an ugly plaid lining). I figured someone had thrown it away (it's a REALLY ugly plaid lining).

I think I'll keep it; that guy sounds like a Latvian douchebag lawyer to me (I wonder if he got away with any cotton candy).

So I guess I'm felonius, huh?

McLovin 03-05-2010 04:08 PM

Holy crap, I left my $15K Rolex in that exact same restaurant in that same airport!

I'm contacting Ogletree Abbott Law Firm, LLP Injury & Consumer Law boyz right now!

I wonder if I can use their "FREE online settlement calculator" to see how much compensation I am entitled to?

Estimate your settlement - Free! Just click on the calculator to test drive our Online Settlement Calculator. Just enter a few numbers and learn the fair value of your injury based upon legal damages.

I wasn't going to say anything about it, but I found a $15k Rolex in one of its pockets.

Those thieving FKNG Latvian douchebag lawyers!

javadog 03-05-2010 04:14 PM

For the record, I have no problems with lawyers, or with law-abiding Latvians. I have many good friends who are lawyers, though they are probably not Latvians. I even have a brother who is a lawyer. In fact, he's my favorite brother.

What I can't stand, is hearing about people that refuse to take responsibility for their own actions. It pains me further that these people do not get struck by lightning, or by dump trucks running red lights, or gun-wielding Latvians running amuck.

In the spirit of our forefathers, I think it is becoming the duty of the people (given that our beloved government refuses to deal with them) to take matters into our own hands. A fitting punishment would probably be give idiots like this a beating with a two-by-four but, as these are hard to hold one-handed and prone to giving out splinters, a tire iron seems to fit the bill. Maybe a 9-iron, if he's tall.

Just my first person opinion

JR

PS: I still think the letter was crap, on so many counts...

I don't fit the norm here (many consider me abnormal) and I don't dislike Latvians. As a matter of fact, I know a small group of toothpick-wielding Latvians (one of them is a lawyer) who get together and run amuck on the 3rd Tuesday of every month; nice guys (but I avoid them on the 3rd Tuesday of every month).

My point is, these guys are really, really big Latvians and are highly suggestible (especially on the 3rd Tuesday of every month) and would probably jump at the chance to run amuck on that lawyer (I'll suggest it to them on the 16th).

Oh yeah, what brought them to mind is that these guys are so big they use two-by-fours for toothpicks (well, they do have a lot of big gaps where teeth have been knocked out).

Asshattery? Methinks not. More like assjacketry.

Dottore 03-05-2010 09:04 PM

There are many better reasons to hate lawyers.

I stand by that remark.

I'd shoot my daughter before I'd let her marry a realtor.

911Rob 03-05-2010 09:25 PM

wazzup wit dat dott? sounds like you had a bad experience or two? Ha, ha.

as for my daughters, they'll all likely be realtors :)
wrote an offer today that pays a $45K commission, so I'm feeling pretty good right now, only a single end though. (never did that in development, not once!)

that was a good year I had today

kaisen 03-06-2010 05:42 AM

Congrats Rob.... sounds like a good birthday present!
