Good call, John. I made some suggestions that were family friendly as his 12 y.o and 18 y.o dtrs are in tow.
|
WHAT? Bourbon Street's not family friendly? I brought my daughter out on Bourbon later that night and she was probably younger than 12 then. told her to have fun but just stay close enough I can see her and grab her in case someone does anything stupid, not to go any farther in than the front door of the strip joints, and never accept Hurricanes from strangers in the French Quarter unless they are drinking from the same glass and we should leave before last call rolls around to avoid the drunk and belligerent yankee tourists. you know... the typical father to young daughter advice while spending quaility time together.

Oh they're looking forward to Bourbon St;) Warned them about the street scams (I bet you $5 where I know you got your shoes...:D)

Well we made it to The Shed! What a place, at first the Daughter said no way am I eating there!!!! But we placed her order and now she wants to go back!
Another good call Jim! http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...91/Theshed.jpg |
LOL...your girls are pretty proper young ladies. I was kinda worried about recommending off the wall local places. Did they have entertainment...I mean other than the patrons?:D
Food OK? |
Oh yeah...thought you might like this about the Shed, Craig. May banish the thread to PARF;) Tea Party held a fund raiser trhere:D

Gulfport.........
The last time I was in Gulfport was for Seabee boot camp. Unfortunately the time there included riding out hurricane Camile! I imagine things have changed somewhat since 1969! I wonder if they ever got the large freighters off the highway and all the saltwater fish out of the swimming pools?
Congratulations on having a Seabee in the family! |

It was nice because our Son was off duty most of the weekend and got to stay with us a few night. Most days was hanging at the beach, smoking some fine cigars with my boy while the gals hit the out let malls. The highlights were hitting NOLA, when we come back we will stay a few days there. I had to do some work on my Sons car and the base has a nice shop for the Seabees to use, 6 bays, 3 lifts etc. It was nice to get on base with him to see what its all about, got to know the guy who runs the shop so he will accommodate my son if he needs anything. The Casino was fun for never been in one, really mostly looked around trying to figure out what the heck was going on but did drop some cash at the bandits. We talked with a lot of people in the area, mostly business owners, fishermen, tour boat operators, out of work oil rig workers etc and got the real scoop on whats going on down there. I looked at some property near the beach but the insurance makes it impossible to really build anything in that area. Here is the boy helping fund our trip! http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...1/DSCF1942.jpg And the happy family http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...1/DSCF1935.jpg |
