I've been to Philadelphia. Unlicensed beer is the least of that city's problems.
PA's alcohol sales laws in general are bizarre. For that matter, so is the PA Turnpike. Ever notice that in some of the Turnpike tunnels the lights get farther apart as you get closer to the center and they get closer together as you approach the exit?

That is so that your eyes will acclimatize to bright light before you exit the tunnel, so you're not blinded as much by bright daylight.

I've been in Philly a few times and buying beer was weird. It was a few years ago, but you could buy liquor and wine at some state store, but you had to buy beer at a bar, at the bar price IIRC, but you could take it with you. Here in LA you can get what ever you want at a private liquor store or at the supermarket, beer and wine only at AM/PM and 7-11.

was blown away with the PA beer laws when I went to Hershey. To buy cold beer I had to go to a beer store, and buy a CASE of beer. Oklahoma has some mega stupid alcohol laws, but that PA law just blew me away.

I agree about OK's stupid laws.... don't get caught speeding either, they can't wait to write you up... for , as rwebb stated, the revenue

I sat next to a PA state trooper at a wedding last weekend in CA. I just happen to have a friend who was nailed for 92 in a 65 on the PA Turnpike. He has ulcerative colitis and was rushing for a men's room. Trooper even let him go to the can while he wrote him up. I told this trooper at the wedding and it turns out he's from the same barracks as the trooper who wrote up my buddy. He said to call him with my friend's case number and he'd take care of it. But I later found out my buddy had already been to court and pleaded it down. Anyway, this cop was very cool and had a lot of great stories. He had been in trouble a few times for writing so few tickets per year. One year he only wrote seven. Why do I only run into such cops when I'm not driving?
