America Is A Mess
America has had multiple problems that have been swept under the rug and left to fester for decades. The quaint old notion of allowing markets to self correct themselves has proved once and for all to be a failure in 2008. This failure nearly brought about the downfall of the American economy. This can no longer be allowed to happen. We as Americans can no longer afford an economy left to meander about on its own. America is now faced with global competition and as such needs planning which only a strong central government can provide. This comprehensive planning by the govt is the only sustainable path forward which will provide economic security for Americans
The American Health Care system has for decades too long been allowed to be a fractious system fraught with redundancy, waste and fraud. With a comprehensive HC program that is controlled and directed by a central agency much of the waste fraud and redundancy can be eliminated and the system streamlined to be able to allocate cost effective treatment for all. This in the long run will provide measurable cost savings which translates to affordability for Americans and will then allow those resources to be allocated to redress other problematic areas of American society. One of these areas might be deficit or debt reduction as the need might be. The American economy for too long has operated without a comprehensive energy policy. With a comprehensive policy America will finally not only have a direction to move in but a road map to do it with. The US must move away from being dependent upon foreign sources of ever scarcer fossil fuels. So to achieve a sustainable energy source and to provide the jobs created by a technological leadership in that industry, America must move in creating an environment of Green or renewable energy resources. This in the long run will will create businesses which not only make profits but creates good paying jobs for Americans. This is for the making of a strong America in the future. The third effort should be in the area of education reform. For without comprehensive education reform the savings and benefits derived from creating a new industrial base and an efficient HC network will be for naught. America will need a highly educated, motivated and talented workforce to compete in the global economy in the coming decades. Education should be available for all those who should seek it. Circulums should be standardized so that the quality of education is uniform for all American students. Extra efforts should be placed in areas where a deficit of educational resources and achievement has been a past norm. A deficit of achievement is no longer a sustainable drag on the American society or economy. Education is the tool in which the disadvantaged in America can join mainstream America and enjoy the aspirations of all. Thus 3 areas of where central planning by govt will provide a beneficial cost benefit analysis when implemented has been presented. . In this new century of ever scarcer resources central planning for the efficient allocation of those resources is of paramount importance. This central planning is not only the solution to the problems America faces but is needed in this era of Global competition to keep the American people safe and prosperous as we move into the next century

The Neocons among you should get out of your obstructionist ways and let people who have constructive solutions to problems get on with the business of implenting those solutions so that all and not just the few can benifit from the American Dream.

I'd agree with this. Whining, complaining and criticizing......without solution suggestions......must be a lot of fun.

America faces serious problems and such a frivolous attitude as your exhibiting is counterproductive for those who are seriously endeavoring to solve those problems.

BS, Tabs. BS. The decline is due to government intrusion into the free market. Human behavior will always be dictated by individual self-interest. The difficulty arose when government policy overrode human self-interest. John Nash (A Beautiful Mind) quantified this pretty obvious (to me) fact. The artificial compassion dictated by social programs, by the "right" to quality healthcare, by "free" public education has destroyed the American spirit because the government will do it for us. The New Deal, the Great Society, and now Hope and Change are intellectual constructs that can not work. Honor, self-reliance, personal responsibility are now considered archaic and quaint ideals. Ultimate efficiency occurs with ultimate individual responsiblity. Healthcare is what it is because too many think it is, or should be "free", education is what it is because it's "free". You went completely off the rails with this one, tabs.

Your notions of the "free market" and "indivdual self interest" is merley the revisionist history of a self indulgent and narcisstic "ME" Baby Boomer generation. America was founded upon the rock of the indivduals working together to creat something. Indivdually we fall together we stand. It was Hnery Ford who created the collective effort of the assembly line to creat an economy of scale which became the wonder of the world.

This is ultimatley xenophobic.. With the opportunity of education there is no reason why a person from Mexico or any other local in the world can't become an engineer or fill any professional job that is available.
