An interesting place in Illinois

My wife and I were at Scott Air Force Base last weekend for a Reserve thing. We decided that Friday to go out and find something to do. Anyway, I had seen ads from this classic car showroom online (Gateway Classic Cars) and we decided to go check it out. From the outside, it looked like an old department store (Kmart maybe) in kind of a rough area. Inside, there was a museum (really just a bunch of cars on consignment) and an antiques area. We actually had a lot of fun, and there were a few cars I found myself wanting to drive home if I only had the dough. Not trying to plug the place, but if your in the area and bored...it's worth the $3 admission price and you get a free calendar.

BTW, sorry for the poor lighting (some of the overhead lights were off/burnt out):

the wives waiting area...

That wives' waiting area is hysterical.

Were those sheets on the right side of the windshield showing info/price on the cars? If so, do you remember the prices of any of the cars you've shown here?

Yep, they were each for sale. The '68 911 was $35k, the Shelby replica was also $35k, the Lincoln $15k, the Karmann Ghia 11 or 12k. The rest I'm not sure but they have a website with info on their inventory. They have a hodgepodge of makes and models from all different years..it was pretty interesting.

It looks okay in subdued lighting, but get it out in the sun and it still looks like a Pinto.

Pale yellow is not the greatest color for a sports car IMHO, my 911 was originally light yellow much like this Mustang II until one of the prev. owners had it painted black.

I believe that purple 68 911 is the same one I looked at a few years back for much less money. It was horribly rusty with crappy repairs done. The good thing was that the owner was totally up front about it, with receipts, pictures.....he admitted it was driven through many salty Chicago winters. :O

Yeah, it seemed overpriced to me. They had a nice looking 914 I didn't get a picture of. Those were the only two P-cars there.
