can you hear them all?

one of my customers came in today and played me some telephone ringtones for the kids. apparently some are too high pitched for adults to hear.
here are some samples.

Ultrasonic Ringtones - the new ringtones that only kids can hear!

i can hear the next to last one fine though.

i cannot hear the last one. 22.4 khz.

KaptKaos 03-16-2010 02:23 PM

There is no sound on the last one. It's a trick.

javadog 03-16-2010 02:27 PM

I'm not sure that it a test of my ears, or of my laptop speakers. I can hear the 14.9kHz tone much better than the 14.kHz tone, and nothing higher.

My kids (9, 8 and 5) can hear down to D#.

peppy 03-16-2010 02:59 PM

I'm not too sure about those sounds. I could hear all but the last 2, and I had two teenagers listen and they could not hear ether.

I'm 42 .....I think the test is rigged

Racerbvd 03-16-2010 03:15 PM

I could only hear the very 1st one :(

Bogus! Someone bring a dog to the computer.

Is it after 2AM???

slodave 03-16-2010 03:29 PM

I could barely hear the second to last one (E). I put my guitar tuner up to the speaker and it did not register the last one, but it tried...

targa911S 03-16-2010 04:06 PM

what ringtones?

too many years in front of an SVT I think.

Or sound card. When I play the 14.1, sometimes it plays, sometimes not, sometimes for a fraction of a second, sometimes longer. My PC/speakers doesn't seem to like the high pitched stuff much. I guess I could plug in some headphones.

14.1 is high enough for me.

they also use ultra high tones to keep kids from loitering at the malls, they are the only ones that can hear them, & it drives them off like pigeons

tabs 03-17-2010 11:35 AM

There was a sound?

I used to hear a high pitch at Oshman's in the mall when I was in my teens and nobody else could hear it except a couple of the employees. Drove me crazy, never shopped there again.

Por_sha911 03-17-2010 01:53 PM

Too many hours with headphones or at Dead concerts. I only got down to 12!

Talewinds 03-17-2010 02:13 PM

At 17.7 I had to switch from the cheapo Dell speakers to headphones, I could then hear up to the 21.1Khz, but not the last one.

LWJ 03-17-2010 08:31 PM

First only for me. The Wife hears much better.

porsche4life 03-17-2010 08:38 PM

I only got to 18.8

And I am a young pup at 18....

Gogar 03-17-2010 11:41 PM

KaptKaos is correct, the last one is empty.

Most people can't "technically " hear the last 6 or 7 of them, what you CAN hear is the electronics in your computer -attempting- to make it happen for you, and the distortion etc. is what you actually hear, that's why you hear the click when it starts and the click when it's over, that makes you think you heard something.

look 171 03-18-2010 12:55 AM

I can only hear the first 3. Anything after that, nothing. Is this "for real"? It must be too many years in cabinet shop and construction job sites. I feel like I am pay for it with my hearing with this freaking job or was it my wife that cause me to hone my selective listing skills?
