My brother Jeff, who is tuner extrordinoir, built this drag bike out of spare parts he had laying around. Someone on the tech forum suggested i post it here for all to see. Most drag bikes that run in the mid 5's are built Hayabusa's with 40 grand in them. This is a stock 750 FI motor, no NOS or even a power comander. He helps me tune my 911 to.

I like it!

$#*%.

Yes.

speeder 03-16-2010 10:25 PM

Nice work, he should be very proud. It's cool that you are proud of him as well, I wish that my brother shared my gear head disease.

It's a really good-looking drag bike also.

Schumi 03-16-2010 11:17 PM

If you got em, I'd love to see some more detailed pics. How he handling shifting? Electromechanically or pneumatically?

don gilbert 03-17-2010 01:44 PM

Sure. Everything on this bike is literally hand fabricated. It is a stock 07 GSXR 750 FI engine, sitting in a modified ninja 600 frame, a 80 dirt bike front end and a large dirt bike rear swing arm. As you can see from the pics its all about power to weight. It ran a 9.30 at 140+ mph in the 1/4 at memphis motor sports park. Shifting is done by a combo of electrics and air. As I write this he is building a 900 Kawasaki for our younger brother Mike. Fabrication is almost done, and then finally assembly. It is going to be a piece of rolling art, and I'm sure pretty fast http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1268861702.jpg

Looks like fun. Somebody point asphaltgambler over here.

herr_oberst 03-17-2010 02:22 PM

This thread is useless without pictures of time slips. :)

Just kidding, that is a beautiful bike,
Craftsmanship - it ain't dead yet.

chicago_82sc 03-17-2010 02:33 PM

Beautiful bike and great fabrication. It is a work of art. In watching the video, I'm amazed and impressed at the guys riding the drag bikes.

don gilbert 04-11-2010 07:25 PM

It is impressive. If you ever get to know a group of pro mod drag bike racers, you know after a bit that they are a differnt breed. The video dosent do justice, in person it looks insane. It hits 60 mph in 1.38 seconds.

m21sniper 04-11-2010 07:25 PM

Drag racing is not real racing. It does not require any skill at all.

don gilbert 04-11-2010 09:08 PM

No skill all? Geez, can you jump in a car and control it going over 210 miles per hour in a 1/4 mile in 8 seconds ? It took me a while to build up to that, started at 21, got smart and quit at 35. a lot of skill involved, and balls. I bet just the sound of Jeff's bike would scare you, much less watching you take it down the track.

Don,
Sniper put that post in green font indicating that he's joking.

Nice bike.

Green text on this forum indicates sarcasm. :)

I am not into drag racing, but that bike is a nice piece of work.

TSNAPCRACKLEPOP 04-12-2010 08:13 AM

where can i get a FI system for my 1980 honda 750 DOHC? link or name would help. Hope its not too expensive...electric fuel pump too?

don gilbert 04-12-2010 03:04 PM

My bad, this my first post here in O/T as far as I know, and I am kinda new to this internet thing.

m21sniper 04-12-2010 03:27 PM

No worries. There are a lot of snot nosed idjits on exotic european car forums that scoff at anything related to drag racing.

I was basically mocking them with my green text.

I think it takes a lot of skill and balls as big as a house to make a run on a drag bike.

imperial 02-05-2013 11:57 PM
