bivenator fire update

What a long strange trip. I haven't been able to enjoy pelican much these days as life has been on hold while we rebuild. If you want to find out what your breaking point is, have a fire and a crazy wife and you will quickly approach that point.
We have chosen a builder and have found a rent house so progress is being made.
I haven't been able to properly thank all of you but am working toward that goal. It was awesome the way you guys came together for us. We really appreciate everything.

Glad to hear that the fog is clearing on the road forward. I can't even imagine what this sort of experience would do to your life other than to devastate it.

Scott,
Just take care of your family. We'll be here when you need us.

Like others, I cannot imagine how your life has been turned upside down after the fire.

I used your experience to reinforce our escape plan, just in case.

Hang in there, the Bionic Man wasn't built in a day(oh waitaminute..)

It's a good time to make sure the most common long-term building problems won't happen:
-positive slope away from foundation for surface drainage
-foundation rises well above grade for insects and flooding. mabye sump pump backup and radon needed
-structure is overbuilt by an x factor! no more squeeky floors
-northern rooms have some kind residual/passive light
-utilitys/plumbing are easy to get to
-bright kitchens an baths are a must
-metal roofs last a long time but tiles probably are better in that area
-bring the builders coffee/donuts and talk with them during thir down times. makes a difference.
-Have wifey tell you what shes wants, run it by her again, take wifey out for special occasion but keep her away from builders.

Best to you.

just a thought.......what is the feasibility to adding a fire sprinkler system in a residential house?
i'd imagine it would make the insurance go down too......even a manual system could be beneficial.......
