OK, now for an unrelated point. Played a Fender road worn 50's P-bass. I dug it. Trying to talk myself out of buying it as a 4-string "experiment."

It will be tough to lose yer B string. I use it a lot. that's why I tune BEAD instead of EADG on a four string, using a 5 string set of course. I'm not a big Fender fan but it IS the sound you grew up with and a 50's P-bass it pretty cool. Not cheap I would assume. does it have the tele headstock?
