How about a "vintage tin" thread?

Any interest in a place to post pix of interesting, or quasi- interesting cars that you see in your travels just wasting away?

('vintage tin' is an old Rod & Custom magazine column, they basically showed pix of carcasses of old cars that would make interesting hot rods.
I thought it might be cool to do the same thing for the stuff we are interested in)

Cycling home from work every day, I see these three meltdowns:

Saab Sonnet project. Don't have to worry about the tin worm, at least. (Owned by a guy with 2 99's in rat-rod condition - but they run!)

911S Targa; 914 1.7 (wearing a nice set of minilites) Honda (650?) and some sort of Citroën wasting away, these haven't moved in a long, long time. Shameful.

Fiero. Eyesore. Somebody must have loved, or at least liked this, once. (at least that's what I figure, the fact that they don't call someone to haul it off might mean that they're planning to "fix it up" again?)

If I took pictures, it'd take me all day and I wouldn't be doing my job. Saw a 23 T bucket today that hasn't been wasting away and was heavily modified. It was beautiful. One day I'll I take some pictures of the dumps and jewels I run across. Just yesterday I ran across a 914 with a 350 just wasting away.

OK, here are a couple more, it is on Fidalgo Island, in the city of Anacortes. Happy hunting. I saw a 924 kind of like that on Whidbey Island.

If that is a 67 Charger, my dad bought one new with a 383 and a 4-speed. I remember one time that my parents were having a "disagreement" so when he left, he laid a pretty good patch of rubber in front of the house.....he was always busy being a great role model for me and my brother.

Here's one near by. Spotted it around five years ago. I've made several unsuccessful attempts to buy it. It's still just sittin' there.

It appears to be, but I haven't verified. Here's another more recent pic. I did a drive by a week ago, it hasn't moved.

^^^^^ So they would rather it sit there rotting while they have dreams of restoring it one day? Jeez! Not even covered or garaged.

What a shame...

The bugeye sprite brought tears...they were just such nifty little things...:(

Man this topic could entertain me all day long ! I NEVER get tired of seeing pics like these and wondering.................what if? I'd say some would make great framed art !

MT930 03-25-2010 09:29 AM

A freinds old GMC 1 Ton would not take much to get running.

Near my house:

Sometimes, on very still nights, I can hear it crying my name.
