fire extinguisher...halguard? or.....
Shopping for a FE for the car. Probably a 2.5lb. I've looked at "Halguard" and "Maxout". Maxout described as some kind of dry chemical.
Anyone know the difference or suggestions? Thanks |
nevermind.

AFAIK, the halogen products were being banned/phased out quite a few years ago because of environmental effects. Don't understand the justification vs. burning plastics.
Glad there are non-corrosive chemical alternatives available. |
Thanks.
I typed nevermind cause I did a search on another forum. Didn't really find anything here. Halon was banned a few years ago, but a variation called Halotron or Halogaurd is being sold and is enviro friendly. I found some HORROR stories about "dry chemical" extinguishers. It might put the fire out temporarily, but it doesn't smother the fire like Halotron. |

I just bought a new 2.5lb Halon (not Halotron) extinguisher last week. Tim |
Halon's not banned. It's still the aviation standard. Halotron isn't corrosive to electrical components, but it puts out a fire just like Halon.

PM sent.
FYI, our host sells 2.5lb chrome Halon units here, although as of a few weeks ago they didn't have the red ones in stock. Tim |
