The Morgan Sports Car (photos from start to finish) - a Work of Art
The Morgan sports car. It is completely handmade in England - and it starts out like a piece of furniture in the carpentry shop. After the hardwood frame is built for the body shell it is matched up with a steel frame that holds the engine, transmission and suspension, then it is finished off in the paint shop. Two models are shown here, the convertible and the coupe. It comes with a BMW 4.8L engine.
I remember when you could place your name on the waiting list and pay around $40K for one. Drove one once - fast bugger! Fun. I would love one someday... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The old ones are awesome, albeit a money pit to restore due to the ash bodies. I like all of the pics in this series except for the last one

Grant, a friend of mine who lives in Burlington MA has a 1955 +4, light green on dark green. Took him 10+ years to restore it. If you make it to Arlington, Cambridge, Burlington, Lexington or Concord on a nice weekend you might see him and his bride rolling around in it. His name is Steve and her name is Joanne - Tell them Mike says hi.

A guy where I grew up had a '52, flat grill, same colors as this but badly in need of resto (mebbe this is it). Never say another flat grilled one since - my favorite.

I was part owner (1/4) of a Plus 8 while living in Europe.
Stiff chassis does not start to describe how stiff it is ... but a great pleasure to drive in Southern Europe twisty roads!!! .... sold my part to one of the other owners when I moved to Singapore... Thanks for the good memories

Lube, were you there? Did you happen to see if they CNC the wood parts, or are those cut by hand still?
BTW, Thanks for sharing, a real treat to see!

Friend sent me the pics - not sure if they are cut with a CNC or by hand. I want to believe they were done by hand. Makes me want to build one but after tools, materials and various parts not to mention time I think I will keep it on a wish list and get one someday when I have 50K to throw!

At the time we got ours it was done by hand, we went to the factory a few times to see the progress, took almost a year to build (20+ years ago)

The others are sort of time warp cars, aren't they? Thanks Mike. Les

Traditional Morgans do not have stiff chassis. They do however however have stiff springing. The ride is not good.
The Aero8(the BMW V8 engined cross-eyed headlight car) has a so-called composite frame that you could see in one of the photos. I'd rather have any V8 engined TVR any day.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that Moggie ownership is less about finite levels of handling and ride and more about the experience.
