What would you do/make with this display hutch?
I tend to pack rat stuff thinking I'm gonna use it in the future for something earth shattering. Got this free so you can't beat that. It's MDF and solidly built. Each cubbie would roughly hold a wine bottle. Since I don't drink anymore that idea is shot. I was thinking about making little drawers and making some sort of apothecary chest maybe. Any ideas?

gassy is a teetotaller (spelling?), so no booze. you could turn it into a house mail box for you, your wife and your 58 kids.
personally, i would dump it. its too deep to be a display box for house nicknaks.. |
My wife would make a shoe rack out of that in a heartbeat......And still need another one.

Paint it black, drill a hole in the back of each cubby just large enough to stick a large Christmas tree bulb in, buy a 60-75 bulb strand where each light blinks on and off independently.
Put the thing in the corner of the room with your stereo, plug it in, turn off all the lights, and put on some Iron Butterfly. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1270062928.jpg |
You just need a collection of 60 small things, alarm clocks, shaving brushes, transistor radios, 1/43 scale Porsche models, 'N' scale railroad cars; butterflies, whatever, and vash is right about the depth, that should be modified so that each bin is very shallow,

open a post office

I would use it as a blueprint holder.
Of course, if your not in construction then I'm out of ideas. |
Use it to store your dildo collection? Or maybe not.

That looks it would be perfect for the garage:
Cut in half, hang both parts at eye level, buy those little plastic nut/bolt/washer thingies that you can label and you are in. Perfect little small parts bin. |

I guess you could always attack it with a chainsaw. |

The back comes off so there could be access to both sides. I like the idea of cutting it in half somehow. |

sell it to pelosi so she can pigeon hole more people
|
What about setting it on its back so the openings are verticle?
Store maps, posters, fly rods (in cases), walking sticks, etc. Or, cut it at an angle and use it for the storage of small steel, aluminum, brass, pieces? |

OR beginnings of the worlds largest slap chop. For the upcoming zombie tomato apocalypse. |
Open up a hotel - be great to hold room keys and mail for your patrons!
Actually, all ideas stated above are great. If you have kids, it would be fantastic to store barbies, kid shoes, hot wheels - what ever. If you don't have kids, storega eideas: a shop organizer, a place to store tackle or ammo shells, cans of spray paint (if your into grafetti). For the artsy side, all sorts of opitions abound - I like the lightbulb idea or the collectable organizer. If you have some time, make little drawers for each (or at least little doors) and use for different spices et al in the kitchen. Too many opinions. |

I don't think stained MDF is going to look all that pretty...

I'd make a door for the front, and store all of my pocket knives in there.
Yes, I have an addiction. |
