you'd probably want one of these:

I love that.

Very Cool
Have been to many a drag race. Lived near, (within ear shot), of New England Dragway. They held the IHRA Nationals there. Also grew up in the midwest where drag racing is a way of life.

I like Dragsters and drag racing. Int Comb Eng are much more interesting in a car than a jet.

The video from the dragster is pretty insane.

Awesome cars, anyway you look at it. Top Fuel or Funny Cars have more horsepower in one cylinder than an F1 motor has in all eight. Here is one of my favorite videos, capturing the sheer power of Top Fuel Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Bike:

YouTube - Drag racing - Super Slow Motion

Notice on the first Top Fuel car, the Hartley Racing car, how it has dropped the #1 cylinder, rendering it no more than a nitro sprinkler.

That super slo mo is incredible! I wonder how much faster they'll go when they'll figure out how to keep the tires from deforming like that.

They have actually put a great deal of time and effort into making the tires distort like that. They put a lot more rubber on the ground through this distortion than they would with a more rigid tire.

just like a golf flexing on the down swing loading up energy till you make contact.

they are loading up the tire till it springs into action once it catches up with the wheel and LAUNCHES the car forward. once they get up to speed the diameter increases too
