Picked Up a Recomnent!!!
 

As some of you guys know, my back is a bit screwed up, but I love to ride. So I picked up an older Bike E full susp recomnent to try out...:D

Just remember you are almost invisible on those things.

Have nearly run a few over myself.

I think it's "recumbent"

cool, they look like they might be a bit awkward at first, but since you're at home on 2 wheels, I suspect you won't have any problems.

I used to manufacture the frame for Bike E. They were shut down by the Federal Consumer Products something something over a recall. My understanding is that the back seat support failed but I could be incorrect.

The thing that really scares me on these is that Bike E never heat treated after welding. That is, the temper of the aluminum is all out of whack and annealed at the heat affected zone for the welds. Caution! Not sure if it will impact the integrity of the frame but I know that all the frames my employer built had heat treat after welding. It was mandatory.

Some recumbents are pretty cool.... they can be really fast too, if set up right.

You are correct, I had just taken all my morning meds & was rushing out the door;) I had one of the early onees way back when my hair was dark & waist size was 28":eek:

I've often wondered about recumbents. What, other than the arguably more comfortable seating position, the advantages are? They do look mighty dangerous due to low profile. And some of those odd setups where it looks like the legs are a good 10 degrees above the rest of the bike look really hard to ride. But something about them intrigues me. Perhaps I'll find someone willing to let me take one for a spin.

I like my Bike E. Too bad they don't make them anymore. They are a great way to get exercise if you have back problems, carpal tunnel, etc. Downside is they are low and, with the small tires, less stable. Upside - you get more exercise since you do all the work with your legs. No standing on the pedals.
