Do you insure an enclosed trailer?

Or is it covered under the home or auto?

I'd call my agent, but then I would be insuring it for sure. Just trying to find out what you guys do and then I'll weigh the risk. Not like I have much in it when I'm not going or coming from the track.

In most cases, the trailer is insured, but the contents are not without a separate policy for the trailer.

Wifey called this morning and told me they sent out a notice that all track event occurrences are no longer covered.

You probably have a limited amount of insurance on the trailer that extends from the auto policy. Check your policy and talk to your Agent.

Are you referring to insuring damage to the trailer itself? That almost always requires a separate policy (or an endorsement on some other existing policy). If you're talking about damage to the car in the trailer if you crash, that would be covered by the insurance on the car. That's my understanding of my situation anyway. I could be 100% in error.

On my enclosed trailer, here is what I found out:

My truck liability extends to the trailer when it is connected.
My homeowners policy covers my trailer against theft and some types of damage, when the trailer is at my home and properly locked.

Away from home (at the track) it is not covered against anything unless I have a policy on the trailer. The trailer policy does not cover contents. Contents coverage must be written as a rider or as a separate policy.
