I believe the 04 Eddie Bauer only came with a 5.4L--can you confirm?

IIRC, you got your choice of two gas engine V8's in the 2004 Expedition, the 4.6 and the 5.4. I've never seen an EB that wasn't a 5.4 but you should run the VIN and that would tell you for certain site unseen.
Regarding that 5.4. Really want to watch the spark plugs on the three valve heads. They have a stunning propensity to be removed along with the threads of the head and in some cases, even a nice little chunk of the head. This is so common that there is actually a "Ford Replacement/Repair" process for this. Think heli-coil... Not covered by recall at all. Probably outside of warranty as well. Not sure of all the years affected, but 2004 to2007 seems to ring a bell. Highly suggest you look into this as it can be a rather expensive repair. Not expensive like 3.0 Porsche head studs, but definately expensive. angela |
When you own this engine you buy the anti-sieze in the BIG bottle. And use it on everything! Angela is dead on. Changing plugs is not for the faint of heart. Ford could have saved a bunch of heartache with a penny's worth of anti-sieze on the plugs.

I've got a F150 with a 5.4 and 170,000 miles. No problems with the plugs to date and I've changed them at 100k and 165k. I think the consenus on the F150 forums is to install then dry and about 25 ft/lbs. It takes about 2 hours to change. Use the factory plug.

Got a sales guy driving one to my house in a few minutes so I'll def check out the plugs. I did get the VIN and it's a 5.4L. Thanks again..Jack |
