How effed up is my house...?! (Picture heavy)

I've been remodeling for over 3 1/2 years. I started out a carpenter by trade. I'm getting close to done on the kitchen, and I am very thankfull to say the least. I was just laughing about how the worst was suppost to be over, and that this peak-****tyness was suppost to have already passed. I thought I'd share.

I added the arch (a copy of another one in the house), and vaulted the ceiling. Complete lighting and electrical redo, and the plumbing has been completely rearranged.

This is my kitchen as of today. My dishwasher is nonfunctional. That blows.

Check out my temporary outlets- fricken hot, eh?

Just tonight I was doing the dishes (manually) and the friggin sink head broke, and now it's got so much pressure, it douches everything in a 6 foot radius. I was soaked by the time I was done. I tryed to remove what was left, but it was very stubborn and unresponsive. Not cool.

I've got a huge hole in my exterior wall,

My floor is a wreck ( for now)

And I've got GWB and wood stacked up in my house

I hope it ends soon, But I still want to put up 2 skylights, and move a few windows. I might just be into pain, I'm not sure. Tell me you're thoughts...!

I'm thinking you're kidding us, right?

These two sentences don't make sense (together):

1. I've been remodeling for over 3 1/2 years.
2. I started out a carpenter by trade.

Also, if you aren't kidding, why did you... ah, nevermind... you've gotta be kidding.

Whoa slow down spunky. I've owned my house for 3 1/2 years, I've been remodeling it for 3 1/2 years. I've been a carpenter for a lot longer.

mikester 04-13-2010 09:39 PM

Um...that's an awful lot of electrical you have in your sink...

Bill Douglas 04-13-2010 09:45 PM

Looks fine to me. I'd just go around with the vacume cleaner and call it a job well done.

Maybe even shout yourself a few beers for having done a particuarly excellent job.

I'm guessing you're not married...call me crazy. I think I'd replace the cabinets, then call it done.

Super_Dave_D 04-14-2010 04:25 AM

I was having a bad day until I saw this - thanks for the laugh!

Apollo 04-14-2010 04:37 AM

jwhcars 04-14-2010 04:41 AM

I have done the remodel the house while trying to work around 3 boys and a dog. Oh the stories I could tell........Now I help my son on his remodel, I can make a mess and leave :-)
I am sure it will look fine when completed, How about some pics of your finished areas.

herr_oberst 04-14-2010 04:44 AM

We need a picture of a bunny with a pancake on it's head, because this doesn't make any sense.

cgarr 04-14-2010 04:49 AM

A little putty, a little paint.......

ODDJOB UNO 04-14-2010 04:54 AM

i think its time for "ANOTHER" REMODEL! write the 1st one off as a drill, then concentrate on "making things FLOW!"

made my day and i just woke up. keep up the exemplary craftsmanship.

Rot 911 04-14-2010 05:01 AM

This is either a pretty funny set up for a joke or you really need to hire a real carpenter/electrician/plumber.

ODDJOB UNO 04-14-2010 05:25 AM

i doubt he pulled permits or...................the zoning inspector is at the bar 50 hrs a week!

Its kind of like a sign shop with no sign.... We don't have time to work for ourselves....

I've done some house renovation work. I'm far from expert at it. Just thinking out loud, but it looks like you need to organize a little better. It looks like you're doing all of your work at the same time, flooring, drywall, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.... Maybe it should go in phases.

Strip, get the carpentry work done, once you've got the general layout completed, then do the plumbing and electrical. Once the plumbing and electrical is complete and working, then do the drywall. When you've got the walls done, then paint, then do the floors, then cabinets, etc....

It seems crazy to try to do everything at once.

This is insane.

Hey, lighten up guys, there is nothing there that a match book won't fix!!! I think I lived better when seven of us rented a whole house for only $175 a month when in college in the late 70's.
