Hi Dave, and other who has Arima. If you have weighted your boat, can you please post the length and weight of your boat? I did searched, but found diff results.
Thanks. |
My Sea Chaser is 17" long. I have not weighed it but some research says 3200 lbs on single axle trailer. I have a 8.8 kicker also so add 200 lbs or so

Thanks Nordwest,
Looks like my ford ranger can take up to around 5,500lbs, so it should be ok with a 17'. Thanks Dave Oh... I want to ask about terminologies too. Hope you don't mind I am asking. I guess the trolling motor is when you need to run slow for lure fishing, and what kicker means? Does it mean for situation when the main motor is having problem? Does anyone else with up to 21' boat who knows the weight? Thanks in advance |
Trolling motor is usually an electric motor that swings in and out of the bow (typically) and used to get into shallow waters without scaring the fish away. You can use it to troll around or if you get one of the latest offerings, they could be used to hold your position.
Kicker is a term used for a much smaller engine than the main motor. I've seen "kickers" up to 15hp, but it all depends on the size of the boat. Kicker is a common term for a small HP rating motor used for dinghys mostly. I once had a good scare on a 21' boat that had its main 200hp motor die and the 15hp kicker didn't do much for us in the rough waters where the incident occurred. If you are going to be spending a lot of time out in the ocean, twin (or more!) engine setup is the only way to go if you ask me. Yes, today's modern motors are more reliable, but I rather play it on the safe side when venturing out 100 miles into open water. |
Thanks gus
