So they fired almost everyone today..
Including my old man:( The company was bought by a large holding company. They want to keep me and two other employees. I cant work for a company that axed my old man like a worn out coat. On top of this they want me to work for about 30% less than before and they want me to sign recourse!!
|
That sucks!!!!
Sorry to hear about your dad, Tony. Speaking from experience, if you can find something else do it!!! In cases like these bad feelings usually cause grief those that were chosen to stay on board. |
krap. good luck to the family.
|
It's business Tony. Don't take it personally. Yeah, easier said than done. I know.
Stay until you find something else. It's what they are expecting to happen anyway. You were not laid off. If you leave no unemployment for you, maybe. The fact that they offered you a position, albeit at a reduced rate, could cause issues at unemployment office. You could be denied benefits since you technically "turned down" an employment opportunity. |

You probably cannot even quit, or you'd lose your chance at unemployment compensation. |

+1 this is what I was forced to do last year. The new company laid me off the Friday before Memorial day after they had gotten all of the contact/account info they needed. That, my friend, was a great day!!!!!!!! My life is now better for that experience. Hang in there and try to keep a positive outlook. Any future employment might come from contacts in your industry. Don't burn that bridge. |
disgruntled employees are the best
this position sucks, been there hope you can jump to something eles soon |
Thanks for your support. I have respect now for all the people displaced by this economic downturn. Its out of control.

steal your body weight in office supplies.................it worked for Dilbert.............
It's just a job. If you're not happy quit!!! start looking outside now. become your own boss doing something else you love to do. no it's not easy, or fair, but IT"S BUSINESS. no loyalties any more. I left Boeing after 20 years, ran my own business the last 3. Money isn't everything in life. happiness is. |

sorry to hear this |
I thought i was correct about that.
Tony do not quit. Just stay and do a piss poor job, have poor attendance, have an attitude problem, etc, etc. If they fire you you'll get UC. If you quit, you get nothing. |
Sorry to hear... hope you find a new job ASAP.
What line of work are you in? |

Reduced your pay by 30%? OK, reduce your performance by 75%. See how they like that. Have some fun with it. Eff 'em. |

You are a wery stwange twoll, uncle wiwwy.

Hope things work out for you Tony.
Forgive my ignorance but what does "sign recourse" mean? As the boss (and sole employee of my organization) for so long I've pretty well forgotten what it was like to be a cog in the wheel. What a helpless feeling it must be to have your strings pulled. Jim |

Fantastic advice from a great guy. Clearly. Here is my take: The situation sucks. Refer to my own outsourcing thread which I need to update today. You're in a bad place and you can either turn inward and let it get the best of you or you can be a professional and do your job as best you can the way you would normally. You don't have to like these people and they don't have to like you. But if you do a good job and are a professional then YOU will have the piece of mind knowing those facts. They will also carry you with confidence into your next job. |

Fantastic advice from a sheep minded individual. To hell with them. To. Hell. With. Them. They fire his Father and cut his pay 30%, and your advice is "grin and bear it, it will make you feel good?" Seriously.... |

Have you looked for another job? If you take into consideration the pay cut you could find something else. This could be a good thing and push you into a better job. |
