What a bunch of wusses, hell, I was snorkeling with 6' baracudas swimming around when I was a kid and we took our boat to the islands every summer, been bumped by sharks while surfing, and looks like I'll be getting a new board this month so maybe I can get back out in the water...

Know, baracudas are attracted to shiny things, they think they are fish, so you don't wear shiny watches or other shiny objects while diving or snorkleing, when it comes to sharks, don't thrash around, Gators don't really want anything to do with you, and most of the time head the other way....

I grew up in Florida, the water has always been a big part of my life, so I learned early on how to deal with the animals that live there..

Dont get me wrong I have swam with barracudas and tiger sharks hammerheads black tips white tips and grey's including a 20 foot green moray that chased for a long way. but if I know they are there I don't go in the water and if they show up then I leave accidents do happen barracudas are attracted to shiny things thats true they are also territorial and only see you as a big predator in their territory and sometimes will attack. I have also been chased by black sea snakes before its amazing how fast those little buggers can swim. Good luck to you Byron and I hope accidents dont happen.

The only swiming I do now is in the bathtub

Find a proper set of fins, go find a ridiculously large lake . . . and swim across it around dawn.

Pools are for peeing in.

called that guy to tell him about my turkey i bagged this morning. he invited me to spearfish again...errr...naa gotta work. oh, that is my other line...gotta go.

spearfishing is like bowhunting but with the drowning elements..no thanks. i can hold my breath for a very short time. it is embarrassing.

he is a cool dude to hang with. one day, i'll get him to fetch me spiny lobsters, which i will promptly dunk into a boiling pot. now that is teamwork. i'm staying on the boat.

We didn't go looking for them, more like they just show up, and as you know, if you remain calm, it is a bit easier to exit. Cotton mouths also chase you, but that is a different story, as they are mean and aggressive.

I was a fish until about age 14, and beyond. I'm in Heaven when I'm in a PNW lake with a water ski on. I need to get SCUBA certified, but will confess I dove the piss out of the barrier reef in Belize a couple of Springs ago. My first dive was to 90 feet.

A friend in her fifties is taking swimming classes. I'm proud of her. I also wish she were not married.

I'm sure that's a photoshop, but that photo alone is enough to keep me from scuba diving in this life time. LOL!
