Looking for the best and fastest way to copy CDs
 

I don't have any plans whatsoever to resell the content. I'm just tired of paying for the overdue fees at the library because I cannot finish listening to audiobooks that are 12 or more discs long. I am able to renew some but most are usually on hold for someone else and therefore cannot be renewed. Anyway, what's the fastest way to copy CDs onto another disc or my HD? I only have one CD/DVD drive. Thanks.

If you have windows, just use Windows Media & rip to a local directory.

I would rip all of the cd's on to your computer at once. You can do it in the background while you are web surfing, working, whatever. Then once they are all on your computer, start burning them onto new cd's.


But my real recommendation would be to go out and pick up an iPod or other mp3 player and simply rip the cd's to your computer and put them on your iPod. It will be so much easier. If you are looking to play it on you standard car stereo, then you can pick up an fm transmitter that allows you to tune the iPod output through the car speakers. They are between $20-$40 depending on the type you get.

EAC is considered the best ripping tool once properly set up for your optical drive.

Itunes and windows media player work just fine as well.

Set your rip to 256 or better, variable, for decent mp3 sound. You can rip at full scale but probably no real benefit with audio books.

I use Nero and Easy CD-DA Extractor. They are not free, but they are fast and really easy to use.
I've used EAC, and while I know it's the best, it's kind of a pain to set up.
