Continental Tire Challenge Mini incident

Girl in the mini (early on in the video below) was tapped and went off pretty hard. Later in the race they interviewed the driver and she said something to the effect of 'i guess big time Rolex drivers don't like getting passed by girls in mini's...totally unprofessional' and was near tears.

But the kicker was they interviewed the kia driver later and he as much admitted to getting payback for getting bumped earlier in the race.

Can't find the film of the interviews but it was surprising to see it so openly discussed.

Good racing as always though! The Subie skipping across the trace SIDEWAYS was particularly exciting. That guy had to be ****ting himself.

Intentional rubbing and spoiled, bratty drivers. Two of the many reasons I stopped watching 'stock car racing' ten years ago.

Yeah - I was surprised by the number of dumbs in that vid. Especially when the Miata makes a perfectly clean pass on the BMW, and on corner exit, the BMW decided to give him a little love tap in the bumper. Totally uncalled for. Geez.

You don't see that type of dumping in pro level racing (except for NASCAR, of course!)

Didn't care for the physical contact at all either but the racing is fun to watch otherwise and the variety of cars is a nice change.

Recent GRM has an article on the Subie. Neat stuff.

That wasn't rubbing, those were good demonstrations of the "PIT Maneuver."

There's a look from a different angle. In my opinion he blindly closed the door on her at :24. So (again in my opinion), he retaliated for something that was his fault to begin with. He pretty much chases her around the track until the off. Not cool.

I guess I'm biased as I'm "facebook friends" with Sarah. She seems like a very down to earth person.

great video! seems to show what you are saying. if anything he earned a bump AFTER what he seemed to think was a bump and she didn't give it to him!

good job on her part holding on to it when captain kia closed her out the first time.

+1 on both counts....

Lots of driving more like its a video game... Seriously.... Thats the way I drive in Forza.... Using other bumpers to keep me in line for the corner.... I'd NEVER do that on the track... and you can be damned sure there'd be a tire iron aimed at the head of anyone that intentionally did that to me....

That boy would earn himself a trip to the orthopedic surgeon if he pulled that shat on a friend of mine. So what are the repercussions for that, if any?

if you are running moon that's one thing, but most of these guys and sarah would probably like their cars to last more than one race.
it's not supposed to be ben-hur out there.
they have demo derbies at the state fair. personally i like the figure eights with school buses.

What an ass.... The first one he owned the line so not really his fault. However then when his attempt to block down the inside didn't work he moved back over and gave her that tap. Douch-B.A.G.

Tin top racing was never my bag, if you want respect then you have to race open wheel, contact can be very dangerous, did the open wheel for 12 years and never saw callous driving like that ever, sure their were incidents of stupidity but not like that , some people in that race should lose their privilage to race, permently
I know this statement will give some of you constriction of the wind pipe but the truth is, Real race cars don't have doors.

There's a neat article in Panorama - title is something like "When Vic Elford gets MAD."

He mentions that in past times, if a car was in the lead entering the corner, that car had the corner, and the other car would back out and follow. Even if that lead was a mere inches. He says that doesn't happen nowadays. I guess you can't be a 'gentleman' and race anymore these days... He also points out that most crashes, even deliberate ones like the Kia driver, are just ruled "racing incidents" and no one gets penalized for blatant hits.

I only hope that this type of driving doesn't trickle down to the HPDE level...
