Carribean cruise
I am about to go on my first cruise next month. Fort Lauderdale to Grand Cayman and on to Cozumel and back. Any one have any input on experiences or what to do when in port? Thanks.

I've been to Cozumel. There was a glass bottom boat, a catamaran that takes you scuba diving, I think there was a zip line but it was on the other side. Lots of people renting dune buggies to run around in. There were small shops everwhere with people bugging you to buy stuff. I do remember a jewelery shop my wife drug me into. For some odd reason they had counterfeit Rolex watches. They were actually very good fakes, I have a few Rolex watches. Overall I wasnt that impressed with it and I doubt I'll go back but I did enjoy the cruise and will do more. Enjoy and make sure you get a big memory card for your camera, you'll need it

Sting ray city.

Go to Carlos & Charlies....get totally wasted, stumble back to the boat with about 10 minutes to spare before it leaves port, go to cabin and have wild aggressive that has nothing to do with love kind of sex.
Of course that's just my opinion...I'd never actuall do something so debaucherous. |
That sounds like good advice to me

Headed from Nalns to the Bahamas this August myself. Looking forward to it.

What Cruise Line?
Tip, onboard there is always a "Drink of the Day" It will be served in a plastic glass that you keep. When you order another drink give them the used glass to refill. It's cheaper. |
Dive dive dive!

grins.............yeah right, scuba "dive dive dive" when you have 4 hours in each port..........more like rush rush rush to the pod people tourist shops.......
I just don't understand the cruise ship crowd who say "I've been to Belize, Cozumel, or country XYZ" when they've been in port docked with 4-6-8 hours to spend there. It's the sterilized pre-processed reheated McVacation, with no time to supersize their order. but I'm sure it's fun for the over 70 crowd like my Mom who is a Senior.....just not my style. Have fun! |
I did that exact cruise a couple of years ago on Carnival. My kids especially loved it. On Cayman, don't miss the sea turtle sanctuary. Dive, snorkel, doesn't get much better. Balcony sex wasn't bad either...

As well, for inland excursions, seek out the independants. We had a great trip to Altun Ha with a side trip through a portion of rain forest, for about $45 a person. |
Thaks for the input so far guys. Its a Royal Carribean cruise. I won it so I figured I'd give it a shot. I know that 8 hrs or less isnt a lot of time to do much of anything while in port. But i figured the only other extended cruises that I've been on during my life so far were the kind that involved being underwater courtesy of the USN in my younger days. I figure you cant beat drinking and relaxing in the sun for 5 days, right?

Just don't expect to spot many of those bikini babes you see in the ads...

Ditto finding your own snorkle/dive gig.
Be sure to get it set up before you leave. Cozumel has a 'park' that is a beach with roped off snorkle areas that are neat. |
oh and imo stay sober. you can be drunk off your ass anywhere.
