Hit and Run

So the wife and I went to Lowes this morning and when we return to our car both the passenger and rear door are damaged. There was a witness to the hit and run, a women who saw it happen, she took down the license plate #
I call the police and apparently she incorrectly wrote down an incorrect #, she had letters instead of #'s. The police ran the #'s we had tried to plug in different #'s, no luck.

So now I am out the $1,000.00 deductible. I am so pissed, people suck.
The guy even got out of his truck, surveyed the damage and split.

Major bummer:( How about security cameras at the store?

Should work with a partial if the make and color were noted. Or am I watching too much TV?

I already asked Lowes about security cameras, they have one outside that would not have seen where the car was parked. Lowes does have many many cameras inside.:(

The traffic investigator is working on it. Pick up trucks have a number, a letter, then 5 numbers.

My witness came up with 8SSS227????
The investigator tried 8S55227, no luck, they tried many other options with no luck.
The 8 means it was a 2008 0r 2009, my witness said it was a gold pickup possibly a Ford F-150.

I am hoping they come up with something. Looks like about $2,000.00 in damage, I have a $1,000.00 deductible.

a PI could do this - but at $1k not cost effective

if you nicely keep after the police you may get results

good luck

Go back and look for the outside cameras. Do not take no from them for an answer. I will almost bet that they are there.

Perhaps this testimonial will help....

Eons ago I came dang near being arrested for hit-and-run. What made the issue suck was I didn't do it. Long after the hit-and-run occurred the police showed up at my door. I was accosted, cuffed, read my rights, and hustled into the back of a cruiser. Yes, i was was on my way to jail even though I had done nothing wrong.

Finally the officers stated *where* and *when* the incident occurred. At that point I realized I knew who was at fault. My girlfriend.. She had borrowed my car, and while backing out of a parking spot, side-swiped the car next to her.

With great sympathy and very politely the officers talked with her. She admitted that she had hit the car. With this knowledge, The officers comforted her, drove her over to the other people's house, and explained to them that they should be sympathetic, show mercy, and work out a solution. A solution that involved me paying for the damages.

The moral of the story is this: If you're a pretty girl, you can get away with darn near anything.

Go back to Lowes around the same time for a couple days. I bet he goes back for what he forgot. You know you always forget something.
