what movie do you recommend for my first bluRay experience.

ok. i have this PS3 just sitting here collecting dust. i have played regular DVD's with it. my sony bravia is very under-utilized. what movie do you think i should go with?

the movie should be good, first and foremost...so i dont care how good the graphics are on celine dion's concert movie..it aint happening here.

just sitting here, half bottle of wine..bored.

vash 04-23-2010 09:41 PM

maybe AVATAR? or 2012? havent seen 2012..but i have seen Avatar.

Jagshund 04-23-2010 09:46 PM

Watchmen, Batman Begins, Dark Knight or Iron Man.

Huh. Must be a superhero kinda night.

Pazuzu 04-23-2010 09:49 PM

Amateurs...

T2. It still will blow the freaking pants off of most everything put out today.

I also realize that "T2" is no longer a defacto name for a given movie, what with the dreck called "Transformers 2" out now. I DO NOT MEAN THAT. :)

Jagshund 04-23-2010 09:54 PM

T2 ain't got no superheroes! And it's old!

But Revenge of the Fallen . . . now THAT would be excellent.

Saving Private Ryan is amazing on blu-ray and HD LCD TV, 120 hz, 1080p.

Mike knows what he is talking about. Listen to Mike.

"Get out of the car! BANG BANG! RIGHT NOW!!!" Love it.

Strange as it might seem some are better in blu ray than others. It's not always the the big sci fi graphics that play the best. 3:10 to Yuma was incredible on blu ray.

Steve Carlton 04-23-2010 10:25 PM

Blade Runner: The Final Cut was totally remastered a couple of years ago.

Chocaholic 04-24-2010 04:18 AM

Apocolypse Now. Or....Natural Born Killers. I know these are old, but they just don't make movies like them anymore.

dewolf 04-24-2010 05:44 AM

Braveheart

I agree with Saving Private Ryan. Another one I thought was good was 300.

stealthn 04-24-2010 07:00 AM

the last samurai

m21sniper 04-24-2010 09:32 AM

I'm betting that The Fifth Element would kick ass.

"Multipass?"

Master and Commander. Turn it up to 11.

pavulon 04-24-2010 03:09 PM

Haven't seen it but Pirates of the Caribbean seems like good Blu-Ray choice. Most recent animated stuff is pretty amazing as well.

+1. This guy knows what he's talking about.

Rufblackbird 04-24-2010 06:33 PM

anything with Kate Beckinsale in it.

who cares about the movie, I just like looking at her, HD/bluray or not!

Jagshund 04-24-2010 06:38 PM

Um, yeah, I'm watching Wanted right now and I'd like to change my vote for just about anything with Angie Jolie in it.

Talewinds 04-24-2010 07:21 PM

T2 as in "Transformers 2"???
Ummm, no.
There is only one T2. And it's still killer on the big screen/BluRay
"We've got company..."
"Police?"
"How Many?"
"Uhh, all of them, I think."

All of the movies listed above are great BluRays.
The Fifth Element is terrific!
Master and Commander is HUGE.

We just watched Gamer, I thought it was going to be lame, but the visual imagery and contrast was mind blowing.

The latest James Bond is awesome too, you can't help but hold your breath for the first 10 minutes of the flick.

Schrup 04-24-2010 07:28 PM

I've got most of the movies mentioned on Blu Ray. My vote goes to There will be Blood. EPIC!!! I haven't bought the theatrical version of Lord of the Rings on Blu-Ray, I'm holding out for the extended versions, but I sure would like to see them.
