Peugeot 505 turbo diesel mods?

I have access to a free car that would be a great 24 Hours of LeMons race car.
1984. ( ish? )

It comes with a spare motor and is a 5 speed.
What can I do to blow it up in spectacular fashion?

I was hoping for some advice on increased flow, compression, boost or weird timing mods.

Not actually blowing it apart.

Get one of those $5 boost adjusters off of ebay. They are a tee fitting with a ball, spring and some other parts. This will work to adjust boost by increasing the amount of pressure necessary before the wastegate opens. I am only recommending this route because it's a lemons car and I don't assume that a boost spike every once in a while will bother you too much.

It's a little harder to provide the proper amount of fuel for more boost with the mechanical injection pump

My parents had several Peugeot diesel wagons when I was a kid. The one thing I remember was that they had an appetite for engines.

Later on they had one of the last wagons sold in the US, a blue 505 STI. It was a pretty fun car to drive with fairly stiff suspension. Ours had a boost control problem and would unfortunately it would hit fuel cut before things got fun.

Make sure you lube up the driveshaft as it's enclosed and things get ugly when the support bearings fail. Poor maintenance was the ultimate death of the 505 STI in our family.
