Tacoma area Pelicans

Just wondering if anybody local to the Tacoma area has anymore information on this article.

Reserve soldier jumps off Narrows bridge - Breaking News - The Olympian - Olympia, Washington

I served with this guy in Iraq during a recent deployment. He was a real good soldier and a great friend. 98 percent of my knowledge of being a NCO came from him. We always went to the chow hall and everywhere together, Battle buddies. I was his medic while on deployment and feel bad that I'm not able to do anything or help him out like I feel I should be. Not sure if there are any Rangers on here but he was/is a Ranger.

No more info, but THANKS for your service to our country.

Over the years, I'm aware of 2 drunk drivers in my area that jumped over a railing in the dark or fog trying to avoid arrest. Can't just assume suicide. Very sad regardless. RIP.

Another expression of appreciation for your service.

I hope your friend recovers from this incident, of course. But.......I have a hard time believing anyone could survive a fall from that bridge. From the article, it sounds like the fall itself was not immediately fatal, and that's wonderful news. But.......that bridge is VERY HIGH. I mean......boats look very very small from the deck of that bridge. I'd say it's in the neighborhood of 400-450 feet high.

Oops. Looks like the bridge deck height is closer to 200', not 400.

Rangers do 200' jumps routinely, don't they?

He may have been drunk but he was in the passenger side of the vehicle. Maybe somebody that was driving him home decided to park him on the side of the bridge and leave. IDK. Its hard to say with shady details. I'm not sure if he could have been charged with DUI or not. I'm not sure how high Rangers take jumps but I do know they have parachutes...lol
