What about proper storage for them?

I have a safe, it's pretty nice but I'm looking at a brand called STURDY they seem to make a pretty well made safe Gun Safes by Sturdy Gun Safe | American Safe Manufacturers

Anything better?

First question how much money are U going to be protecting with your safe?

If is only a few thousand then it does not warrant buying an extremely expensive safe. U would have more money in the safe than what your protecting.

I do not like most commericial spoon safes...they are basically just good for the smassh and run burglar. anybody with any time or expertise is going to get in.

I think it is Citadel that makes a safe where they use quick drying concrete as the fire insulator and it also make it more difficult to get into. With the thin gauge metals a Sawzall cuts right through the top, where they pry it open like a sardine can. Also it is wise to bolt it to the floor as they are easy to drag away.

Check the fire rating and Burglar proof ratings...

A good sized quality safe is going to run $3000 to $5000...

I think "behind the front door" is a good place. It must be because right now there are two .22s, a .410 and a pellet gun there.

Most safes are actually just residential security containers sold as "safes".

Buy the best you can afford... and can move. I've had to lug this 2,000lb bastard all the way from MT to TN to PA... now I may have to move it to NH. I can't afford to pay safe movers so I bought a pallet jack on Craigslist and just rent a Ryder truck with hydraulic lift gate. It's still scary though, even with help.

I've been thinking of the Sturdy safe with S/S upgrade and fire protection!

I just have a safe that my old man used to use at one of his bars. It's about a thousand years old and is as heavy as a house.

Works for me.

I have to keep it on a pallet until my wife and I buy a house. Once that bad boy comes off the pallet, it is NOT going anywhere for a while.

I'm not really worried about someone taking off with it, although anything is possible. When I moved away from Montana, I had some movers trying to manhandle the safe onto safe casters. One of the guys put his back between the safe and the wall of the garage and started pushing. Three of them tried to get the thing to budge and the one guy ended up putting his back through the drywall.

since i own (2) a liberty and a canon, i get twice as much fun as everyone else.

since being a bachelor for the last 11 years, yer life changes,priorities change. like having dirt bikes in my living room, a drumset, and of course (2) safes.

out with the dirt bikes and out with the safes............and the drumset has a target on it to be moved elsewhere.


now to move my safes to their new home. it cost me $400 bucks. so please figure out where its GOING TO STAY. i thought the living room was just fine..........apparently NOT! this was a BIG DEAL even for the safe movers.


but my suggestion is to anchor it with (4) redheads, get some dessicant paks, and a dehumidifier.


and make SURE IT IS LEVEL TO THE PLANET! this will be noticed by how your door swings. have lots of wooden shims for this and patience.


yes it was WORTH DOUBLE the $400 bucks to have safe movers do it. GIANT PITA!

P.S. ya get what ya pay for in a safe. generally the longer fire ratings = WEIGHT and that = $$$$$. for my 52 gun safe it was i think $5200 bucks
