St. Louis hotel recommendations
Going to a wedding in a couple of months and was wondering if anyone could reccommend a Hotel in a nice area. Would rather be closer to my final destination, so no airport hotels. Also price range of no more than $150.
Looking for a Holliday Inn or Holliday Inn Express to stay in between the airport in St. Louis and Columbia, MO. Thanks! Either off of I-270 or I-255

You are aware Columbia is about 100 miles away from the STL Airport, right?

Where is the wedding? Let me know and I will have a better idea of where you can stay. Will you be flying in or driving? If flying in, will you have a rental car?

I think there may be two Columbia's. This one is 33 miles from the airport (STL) per google maps.

Are you planning on partying it up in downtown? If not, then you would be much better off staying at a small hotel in Columbia IL or in Arnold, MO, which isn't too far. I grew up near Arnold, there are three or four hotels in the town.
If you want to stay downtown with easy access to the landing (read: getting hammered and walk back to the hotel/take a carriage or cab) there is a nice Hyatt and a nice Hilton downtown. If you hit the landing to eat and drink one night, I highly suggest hailing a carriage if you are with the girl. She will love it. It's more expensive than a cab, but if you're at the Hilton they usually head past the Archgrounds on the way to the landing, or at least the old courthouse and plaza which is all lit up at night.

Traveling alone and would prefer a low key place. This is an in-n-out kind of thing.

Wow, I'm amazed Columbia, IL is only 33 miles away from Lambert Airport, I had to look it up. It seems MUCH further.
Definitely stay in Columbia, there are small hotels there. I'm about 30 miles due north of there.

If you want a Holiday Inn. The one in South County would be your best bet. Right off of 270 and about 10 miles from Columbia.
Holiday Inn Hotel St. Louis-South County Center6921 South Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63125(314) 892-3600 – (877) 863-4780

any of the hotels by the airport are dodgy. In '07 i stayed in an assortment of comfort inn, holiday inns, holiday inn expresses (the showerheads are nice)....for a total of 4 months. go for something closer to the wedding.
(sim training on two different airframes, plus teaching recurrent)
