Shipping to Saudi

Hey, does anyone know the cheapest way to get boxes to Saudi Arabia. I'm taking a job with Aramco and we took the "cash-in-lieu" option.

If I use DHL with the Aramco discount, it comes out to $300-$400 for a 50 lb. box.

I'm going to look into taking excess baggage on the flight (KLM).

Has anyone been to Dhahran and shipped anything there?

Thanks!

been to Dharhran..(Army)
hot,hot and flat..
we had APO..
you will like Bharain..think Vegas for Muesli's
most likely you will live in some compound..
usually 2 or 3 to a house..
someone will be running a still there..
20 bucks for 1 liter of poison..
add some food coloring and voila.. whiskey..
they also usually dedicate one house as the club..
make friends with some squids..
Navy has class 6 store in Bharain..

Shipping

I worked in Dharhran for 3 years in the mid 80's. I always used DHL with no problems. Watch out for the 'sadiki' some of it will take the top of your head off.

Rika, I'm going over married status, so we get a two bedroom house of approximately 1200-1500 sq ft furnished. After 4 months, you have to pay rental on the furniture, so we'll be gathering the furnishings once we get there.

I mostly want to ship some tools, reference books, maybe a set of golf clubs, favorite pots and pans etc.

Same as the above.

The Aramco housing compound is pretty nice and you will do fine there.

The limitations that we had during the war are long gone, and it will be a lot easier on you.
