Shipping to Saudi
Hey, does anyone know the cheapest way to get boxes to Saudi Arabia. I'm taking a job with Aramco and we took the "cash-in-lieu" option.
If I use DHL with the Aramco discount, it comes out to $300-$400 for a 50 lb. box. I'm going to look into taking excess baggage on the flight (KLM). Has anyone been to Dhahran and shipped anything there? Thanks!

hot,hot and flat.. we had APO.. you will like Bharain..think Vegas for Muesli's most likely you will live in some compound.. usually 2 or 3 to a house.. someone will be running a still there.. 20 bucks for 1 liter of poison.. add some food coloring and voila.. whiskey.. they also usually dedicate one house as the club.. make friends with some squids.. Navy has class 6 store in Bharain.. Rika |

We just opened a lab in Dammam, KSA. sent a bunch of equipment over. I'll find out how we shipped it all.

Shipping
I worked in Dharhran for 3 years in the mid 80's. I always used DHL with no problems. Watch out for the 'sadiki' some of it will take the top of your head off.

I mostly want to ship some tools, reference books, maybe a set of golf clubs, favorite pots and pans etc.

Same as the above.
The Aramco housing compound is pretty nice and you will do fine there. The limitations that we had during the war are long gone, and it will be a lot easier on you. Joe A

they have horse-shoed a place on the beach there..
so you & lady can swim... I tasted oil in everything..coke included.. in the compound her life is quite normal..she can drive.. once outside.. very different game.. if she likes gold trinkets..your in big trouble.. you will see sheep riding in the back of Benz's.. flew into the desert once..many miles.. came upon a golf course that would make Arnie swoon.. had it's own water plant.. for the King only..
