well f. my nikon D70 took a dump.

malfunction city. it keeps frying memory cards. i get the "FOR" warning, stating i need to format my card. this isnt so good when it is full of data. i just got another warning, "CHA", which means my card is not reading at all. 3 memory cards have gone byebye. sucks, this thing as gone around the world with me. not an easy life, but i didnt abuse it.

Leica's are great but no more robust than your Nikon.

Their film cameras were the best.
I haven't heard anything about their digitals yet but I suspect like a lot of things "Made In Germany" doesn't mean what it used to.

I have a D70 too, still working but I hate to admit that my wife's Panasonic Lumix (?) compact is much handier and in fact provides great pictures too. The D70 has been sitting in its bag ever since.

Google that warning--that happened to me and they have brands of cards that won't happen with. I'd look it up for you and post but I'm on my way to ballet and my MIL just spilled milk in my car but I can't get in cuz my cat swallowed the key so I think I'm gonna pull out my bow and shoot it.

Just a thought, go to the next NRA show, go to the Pentax booth, see if they are selling camera sets. You'd be surprised at the cost if they have any to sell...

That's modern technology for you. I had 2 Canon Eos 1n film bodies that I abused mercilessly for 10 years without them missing a beat (except when I dropped one off a car roof - repaired FOC by Canon). I went digital, bought an Eos 5D which at 18 months old burnt out all its electrics the morning I was about to fly off for a month's trip to Namibia. I took one of the Eos 1n's. Lovely pics but boy was it a shock having to pay for 25 odd films to be printed when I got back.

I'll never really trust the Eos5D again...

Perhaps you just need to update the firmware.

While you are out camera looking, check out the Canon S90. After acquiring this little gem, my D80 spends most of its time in the house while the S90 happily slips in my bag or back pocket. F2.0 28-105mm.

You should format the memory cards in the camera. What brand are you using? I'd suggest posting the problem here:
