When I heard something about President Obama sending SWAT teams to the leaking oil rig, I began to think, which is always dangerous. Then I heard more recently that it's still unclear as to what exactly happened to the rig. They don't normally blow up like this one did, and where it did and how it did and when it did. Maybe the thing was intentionally blown up by somebody. Think of this: 9/11 was beyond comprehension. Even the 9/11 Commission said, primarily, 9/11 was "a failure of imagination". Could this have been an act of eco-terrorism i.e., eco-nomic and eco-logic? Is this the attack the Department of Homeland Security has been predictiing since its inception? Like I said: Tin Foil Thread Alert!

I just think it funny that shortly after bho announced that their would be more off shore drilling this then happened! hhmmmm ya know there are people out there that think trees have the same rights!

Environmental terrorists could very well be to blame, but why cover it up?

If it was apparent sabotage/terrorism it wouldn't have the desired effect.
Not to mention they'd be hunted down as domestic terrorists.

Your theory falls down when you realize that BP was doing the drilling. This is the same company that blew up a refinery 5 years ago. They were simply due.

Normally when these eco-terrorist nutjobs do something like this they claim responsibility shortly after to declare it a victory........usually about a week after the fact......we'll have to wait and see......

Consider the source, but I did just read a report from some Russian paper claiming that it was done by a N. Korean mini sub that did it with two incendiary torpedos and then, two days later, exploded itself under the platform in a suicidal attack. Russian paper says there is a news blackout ordered but that the US has few options from here. They claim the only known way to seal the well is with thermo-nuclear device.

BP is f'd after this.

The fed's send ATF whenever there's an explosion. We blew a 30" steam line a few years ago and they showed up to look at it. Fortunately nobody was hurt and no terrorists were involved. It was lunch, so 20 minutes earlier or later would have been really ugly.

LOL, I heard that same thing in Michael Savage last night in the car. Crackly AM radio makes conspiracy theories that much better.

Seems strange that we aren't hearing any details of how this happened. All I've heard is that BP is responsible for the mess.

Caveat: that was from the same guy who said of Cambridge Police "clearly the cops acted stupidly."

Maybe BP screwed up a whole bunch of safety gear, or maybe we'll have another beer summit.

I used to build blowout preventors for Odeco at my father's shop. spent many hours welding 1/4 stainless steel rods building up worn out hydrils, building and assembling stacks and conductor pipe with choke and kill lines. This is some heavy duty equipment sitting on the wellhead. lots of things could have gone wrong, but I doubt it would be terrorist sabotage. I just don't believe those coonass drillers would let anyone near the equipment they didn't know even they were armed. that's some rough and tough crazy mofos
