the rover windshield is easily $500, but yeah, i am talking about the 951.

Do not use a polish, you'll get a billion colorful rays of light when the sun hits it. Try "Glass Wax" at least it isn't permanent.

If you find a 951 windshield for less than 500 let us know... Every place I checked for mine was easily 700... I was out of town when it got broken and needed replaced..... Dad took care of it and ended up with an early windshield..... Its *almost* too small....

i did a search on google and didn't find a product called glass wax.... i'll try again.

do you have non-deductable full glass coverage? some insurance companies will replace the glass as a safety related issue. ask your agent.

I agree try this first. It worked well enough on my 911 windshield that I can at least put up with it for a few more years.

The problem is that they get sand-blasted over time. Hundreds of tiny chips, not really something you can buff-out. A new w/s is one of the nicest improvements you can make on an older car, assuming the present one is in bad shape.

Just for the heck of it, check the dealer. I just had an experience where the dealer had the best price on an older w/s, still expensive but less than Safelite or other *all cars* glass dealers. Not always the case but worth checking.

I have used Bon Ami to clean them, followed up by Windex. Never have gotten rid of pits though.

Cerium oxide is how to polish glass. You use a hard felt pad on a drill motor. The rule of thumb is that if you can feel the defects with your fingernail, they are too deep. Pits are usually too deep, but you can get the haze out of the glass.
