Serious Scientific Experiment- Need More Data

Held my small dog upside down (lying on her back with her head touching the ground) for a few minutes. For those thinking this was torture, she often sleeps like this. However, after about four minutes she started sneezing- A LOT. My wife was slimed (she shouldn't have been so close to the test area anyhow).

So I hypothesized that dogs sneeze if held upside down for a certain amount of time. In order to test this, I put my other dog through the same test and was rewarded with another battery of sneezes after only a few minutes.

If there's anyone else out there with a willing dog, just put 'em a few inches off the ground on their back so their heads extend towards (touch) the floor, then wait for results.

Please, I'm curious. *

*If PETA pounds on my door and tells me to stop animal testing, I'm gonna find the rat who squealed . . .

what caused you to hold your dog upside down? boring night at home?? I'd be willing to try it but i don't have a dog....so I'm utterly useless

Everybody knows that. And if you're south of the equator they fart.

Depends if the dog is aligned by longitude or latitude. Don't they teach physics anymore?

I heard that on the equator, they will bite if held upside-down.

Just sayin'

This also depends on the breed....

Ah! Yes. I was using Dachshunds. My neighbors have two SWDs that I might use if I can snatch them without notice. Who're they gonna tell?

SWDs=Short Wheelbase Dachshunds?

My Rottie sneezes when she rolls on her back and stays there for a while.....

The short wheelbases handle better than the long wheelbases.....

That's what I refer to little white dogs as: Stupid White Dogs. There are many of them around here and I always get the Lhasas and the Maltese mixed up- and they're always barking at me when I see them, so . . . naturally, SWD.

SWDs must be small and very hairy to qualify. Dogs such as Jack Russells need not apply.

ya know......................thinking about this "scientific experiment" i had to laugh about turning my 100+ # wolf/weimereiner(mr. snuggles) over on his back to see if he sneezes or farts. and then reality set in and i decided not to pursue this "scientific experiment" for fear of getting my leg or arm torn off!

good luck with this guys. just remember from NOW ON will will have to ask for ID of all willing experimenters no matter their race. no racial profiling the "taco bell" chihuahas?

RWebb 05-05-2010 07:15 PM

by dog, do you mean a fur person of the canine persuasion or a particularly ugly woman?

Joeaksa 05-05-2010 07:15 PM

If it does not come up to my knees, its not a dog, its a football...

My Dachshunds will have you limping for that. The little one (9 lbs) lunged for the throat of a 90 lbs. Doberman (I was soooo proud of her). She also chases rabbits that have at least an ounce on her.

C'mon people! Data points! Labs, Golden Retrievers, Great Danes, SWDs- what have you. Flip'm!

3 corgis, they are always rolling on their backs. Just tried all 3 no sneezes.

I'll be expecting a portion of any grants you might get for this research.

My dog is asleep, otherwise I'd try it, BUT when he comes in at night he rolls around a bit on his back and usually sneezes a few times in the process. He's a 70lb 13yo Yellow Lab.

My dogs are in their crate tonight, so I'll try in the AM

My 13mth old daughter just cried, but no sneezing. Want me to test it on my wife?
