I love my mother, God bless her but... Just curious, how many of you, as a boy, remember dreading the endless hours at the fabric store? Nothing but bolts of fabric, pattern books, eerie quietness, and me alone bored out of my mind.

I'd usually stay at my grandmother's over the summer and since she did alterations and made clothing for many of the wealthier families around town I spent many hours in fabric stores with her. I especially remember the high school girls coming over to try on their cheerleader outfits and prom dresses. she also made wedding gowns and New Orleans mardi gras costumes, so I got a lot of time in sewing/glueing on rhinestones helping her. I still remember the smell of the old front street 2 story fabric and clothing store. had to have been built in the late 1800's.

lucky my mom wasnt much of a fabrics DIY homemaker. she did try, but i didnt have to wear any crazy creations.
i did survive a few DIY, money saving haircuts. therapy helped.. happy MOM's day..!!!

Oh no. Is going to the fabric store going to be what my son looks back on? Luckily you guys turned out pretty good regardless. I guess it won't scar him to much.
