Yeah, I'll go with that. And for those who like flow benches? The MOPAR 340 heads were among the best flowing ever created for a deee-troit V-8! Warren has a "way cool" car in a 340 'Cuda.

I have a friend who had a 340 Demon, and I can verify that this engine could pump air! The friend is one of the luckiest guys I know. Several of his cars have been torn in two or more pieces while he was driving, and this was one of those. Others include a Charger and a really sweet Roadrunner with 383.

i used to own a dodge dart with a 318 CI engine that i sup'd up. a friend of mine worked at a machine shop who snagged me some 340 heads. he did a valve job on them, installed extra large intake and exhaust valves, and ported them.

i put them on my 318 with a racing cam and a large volume carter carb. also had headers and high flow mufflers.

that car would haul b*tt......

Yes to all of the above and remember the Super Bee! My memory is fading but I seem to recall scooting in a friends Charger R/T. I don't remember if it was a 426 Hemi or a 440 Wedge. Anybody remember these big boys??

A friend of mine had a '70 Super Bee with a 383 Magnum in it. It would go like a cut cat. Not bad for a car that could seat eight comfortably and sleep six in the trunk!

Derk...way cool, way cool! Now to get you & Warren together, a little draggin' :) I'd love a tape of that! BTW, neat wheels! I'll try to avoid drivng by a MOPAR dealership for a few days...don't think I could take looking at the new ones right now.

this really makes me miss my '70, 340 dart swinger. Oh the days... she was a banana yellow, 340, 4sp dart swinger. Dual hood scoops, black stripe on the tail and a big chrome foot on the go peddle. The infamous x-heads, big old carter carb and a thirst for premium.

Great looking 'Cuda. I had a '70 340 with Shaker hood, forest green with white interior, slap stick auto, elastomeric bumpers, rim blow horn, 8-track and on and on. Most memorable car I've ever had - man did that thing scream.....

FYI, The current Grassroots Motorsports mag has an article on Baracudas. They had some rally sucess in the late 60's.

Had a 69 Road Runner new. 383 Magnum and it would smoke the tires for as long as you wanted it to. If you didn't let up, it would probably eat a set. It was a convertible. Loved it. Should have kept it. It would be worth a mint today. Ahhh......

My first obsession was a '71 'Cuda 340 4-spd (pistol grip). (BS23H1B444237)

Car was poly-gold metallic with "go-wing" spoiler package, shaker hood, driving lamps, and the usual 'Cuda goodies (hood pins, ralleye dash, etc.) Shipped from the factory with manual steering, manual brakes, manual transmission, no AC, and radio delete.

Great car - I even ran the Holley 2300 3x2bbl induction for a couple years. Bought it for $3,500 and sold it for $10,000 five years later when the muscle cars were hot.

I think it is great to see you 911 folks appreciate great old cars... even if they are made in the USA!
There is way too much Porsche snobbery lurking about! (IMHO):p Even amongst Porsche owners we have the 911 Vs 944 Vs 914 Vs 928, turbo Vs N/A, air cooled Vs water, etc. Can't we see that each Porsche had it own design criteria but by virtue of Porsche engineering is a fine automobile in its own right?

Okay, in the spirit of putting a 3.2 etc in a 914/ earlier 911, years ago we transplanted a 400 chysler motor- with headers- into our B200 dodge van. This was done strictly to make it a better tow vehicle (ahem). Nice noise and quick too. What a sleeper!!
