Pawn Stars fans: I want to visit the shop next weekend.

I'm headed to Vegas on Sat. and was thinking of checking out the Pawn Stars Gold & Silver Pawn Shop. I love the show, but watch with a very skeptical grain of salt. Upon some Internet research, it appears there is often a long line to get into the store and you're rushed out after two minutes unless you're buying or selling something. I refuse to wait in line for most things, so I may not have the patience to pay these guys a visit. Anyone have any experience with this place? Honestly, I'm just interested in looking at watches, guns and guitars.

At this point, I imagine it's a lot like going to the Hard Rock Cafe because you like Rush.

They are open 24/7 so you might try on an off day or late at night..You probably won't see Rick or Chum Lee but you'll get to see their stuff.

I'm a big fan too. I'm sure they pick and choose the stuff they put on the air but it's still a fun show to watch. I think it's funny they try to portray they guys as hard core but you can tell they are just normal guys who happen to have a "mean" look.

you think they're tough to get in to see.......try to get in to see the pope.

I couldn't care less about seeing the Pope. I'll take pawn shops any day.

No one at a pawn shop has ever tried to convince me that an interstellar zombie died so I can fuch whores, drink excessively and curse like a sailor without fear of going to hell.

Well, there was this one guy, once, with a kinda similar story, but he believed he was Jesus, so I'm not sure it's the same...............

All that said, I might be heading to Vegas later this year, the shop is a definite must-see in my books. I'll probably buy something too.....

Is it these guys? Gold & Silver Pawn Shop

I must admit I like going into Pawn Shops. You never know what they may have.
Over the years I've bought lots of bits and pieces.

Snapon tools are my favourite. Much cheaper than buying them new.

That's probably a pawn shop the bargain hunter should stay out of...

some good pawn shops close to military bases

I went there on my trip to Vegas a few weeks ago. Got pictures of the boys. I didn't have to wait in a line but the weather wasn't good. They were filming, (trying to), an episode the day I was there. Eventually they closed the store for it because of the noise and people roaming to close to the filming area. I think they are already tired of the fame. The four of them stay in the back coming out occasionally. But when they did they seemed nice enough. btw... some cool stuff but I didn't see any firearms.

I can take you to a real Pawn Shop, on the way there you will see the TV one and the lines of people.

And the one we are going they have guns too (one of the few in Las Vegas) and they are a full Class 3 dealer

Have you a gold ring they could weigh up? Curious as to what they're paying.
Jim

Would love to stop by and visit it as well.

Next time in Vegas perhaps!

Rick:

Love the show, but the old guy creeps my wife out! Something about his sinister eyes...

But I digress. I'm not surprised there's often a line- the show must have been great for business. Let us know how it goes- and take pics if you're allowed to!

Cheers,

Paul.

I've read most of their sales are t-shirts now. Some of that show has to be rigged. I mean who the hell brings some of that stuff to a pawn shop other than because they'll get on tv for it? Wish I had something I could part with that they'd buy from me, but I know how to get a lot more money for my stuff.

I was in Vegas around Thanksgiving. There was a line to get in, but it moved quickly. The Old Man was sitting in a barber chair in the corner signing pictures. Rick was behind the counter. I agree that they seemed a bit tired of the fame and attention.

Honestly, there's not much to see once you're there. The Old Man was a lot friendlier in person than on the show. I asked him if all the foot traffic was a good thing or not. He said they'd worked a couple of years to convince a network this would be a good show and got turned down a lot. I think the way he put it was that most people who come through are just curious, but they sell a lot of T shirts now.

Jagshund 05-11-2010 07:44 AM

There is . . . a television show . . . about a pawn shop? Wasn't this one of the signs of the apocalypse?

karmenbutzi912 05-11-2010 08:09 AM

I`am sure if you gave Chumley a call he could get you in without waiting in line
