Nauseated by plumbing repair?

I need to replace a faucet in the kitchen and find my self getting nauseated when I lie on my back under the sink with my arms raised. This started a few years ago while I was working on my car.I do not get nauseated just laying on my back , only when I have to raise my arms and work on something. There is no smell or odors to contend with. Any idea whats going on? There is a slight light- headedness associated with the nausea.

Been to a cardiologist lately? Seriously, while it could be a number of things, make sure your arteries are OK. I have 25% blockage in the carotids, but I was told that I might be OK unless it gets up near 50. Well, I don't want to know what I will feel like with half the blood going to my brain (or however it works).

So, I'm under the doc's care for now while I try to make a few changes.

You need to look at this carefully and completely.

I'm no doctor but id also have to say it has something to do with poor circulation.

While I haven't a major check up in quite some time I would think that any blockage would be a problem in many other ways. I only experiance this problem when I perform tasks like I noted above. I mow the lawn, walk the dog, swim, and ride my bike without any of the symptons.

do you have frequent heartburn or when you're on your back do you feel like you're being choked just before you get nauseous? I used to...and it turned out to be a form of GERD.

My buddy has the same same thing happen to him when he works on cars. I was helping him with his truck muffler, and he complained of almost throwing up while doing the work. I thought he was fooling, and just trying to get me to finish it for him! Still made him do the work, as it is his truck!

I actually did throw up one time when I was working under the car. At the time I thought it was just a reaction to the smells of gas and oil. My hearing has been going bad for several years now and I suspect it may be an inner ear problem. There is no ear infection or any problem like that, just old tired ears I guess. In the old days I had the "Spinal Tap"model amplifiers {They go to 11}

That used to happen to me when I was young, I'd go out to a bar after work and hang out there for 5 or 6 hours and the next morning I felt just like you described.

I figured it out though, I think I'm allergic to peanuts

time for a checkup

raising your arms sends blood down to the torso - for some reason it (appears that) is not being - ah - scavenged* properly and results in the nausea (perhaps from blood issues affecting receptors associated with the GI system)

that is my guess as a research physiologist, not a clinician

don't delay the MD visit

I hate going to the doctor. If given a choice I will just not work under the car or on plumbing anymore.

JMPRO,

Do NOT fuch with this.

Your symptoms remind me of one of my brother's. He ended up having surgery to open (mostly) blocked arteries to his head.

Life is too short. Don't make it shorter.

No diagnosis offered here by anyone. Perhaps sand lot evaluation.

Well I got the job done. I worked untill I had to puke. Puked and rested a minuet and the feeling went away so I finished the job.
Maybe I'll check into that doctor thing just to be sure.

Good for you. And, if it's vertigo, then you know what you face.

I'd get it checked out asap.

My hands fall asleep when I'm laying on my back and reading a book. Also, when I cut the grass or use tools that shake/vibrate, my hands go numb and shake afterwards.

Hmmmm... Maybe I need to go to the doctor asap.
