how to embed youtube video

I used to know how to do this. Now, I can't figure out for the life of me. And I can't find through search.

Will someone take mercy and remind me what to do to embed a youtube video to a post.

Thanks,
Skip

Go to the video you want on youtube.

Under the video there's a button called "embed".

Click on it, and it will open a box with the "embed code". Select everything in that box and "copy" it. Go to your PPOT post, and paste it into your post.

Some videos will say "embedding disabled by request" or something and you can't do it.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. But, what I get is...
<object width="660" height="525"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pbaupvV72sY&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x3a3a3a&co lor2=0x999999&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pbaupvV72sY&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x3a3a3a&co lor2=0x999999&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="660" height="525"></embed></object>

skipdup 05-14-2010 04:11 PM

WTH!?!?
Figures. No idea what I did different.

Thanks.

skipdup 05-14-2010 04:15 PM

I guess you can't post videos in the classifieds section.

Thanks again.

Dueller 05-14-2010 05:06 PM

Or you can put your curser on the youtube vid, left click, a window will pop up that says "embed", left click that, go to wherever you want to post and click paste.

Bill Douglas 05-14-2010 05:24 PM

Ha, that's smart. I just copy the whole url and paste it but it's much more slick doing it that way.

dennis in se pa 05-29-2013 05:30 AM

For some reason I have to put the code in quotes for it to work. as in:

"copied code"

If I just cut and paste what is indicated as the embed code it does not work for me.

gsxrken 05-06-2014 08:24 AM

test

dennis in se pa 05-06-2014 08:44 AM

test also

"<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/xEOts8qAwL4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>"

If I put the copied code in quotes it works for me....go figure.....

Right click, click on embed code, paste in the thread. If you do it AFTER the opening commercial it strips that off.

Also after cut and pasting the embeded video...If I try to preview post, the video doesn't show up, but it will be there if I just post it. Might be something with my computer?

Seems you are trying to embed content that either no longer exists or the privacy settings are not public.

Is this your video? As in something you uploaded? If yes check the sharing settings.

I can't embed using Chrome, but can if I use internet explorer, been that way a month or two. Took a while to figure out I could do it with IE

Eric at Pelican Parts 06-07-2018 10:39 AM

Hmmm, that's weird... I'm using chrome to embed. See if this works:

Click share
https://i.imgur.com/dlB2u7P.png

Click embed
https://i.imgur.com/oqam0dh.png

Copy the entire text
https://i.imgur.com/4F4gGDC.png

Just paste the text in the thread and voila!:

I use chrome also.

Right click on video, select "copy embed code"
then go to your post, right click select "paste"

Once you copied the embeded URL, you then have to select the icon for Insert Link. Then paste the copied embeded URL into the box and you're good to go.

Is this only available on a desk or lap top? I don’t see the <embed> option on my iPad.

A930Rocket 06-07-2018 06:29 PM

What about embedding on an iPhone?

All I can do is post the link.
