New ideas on getting a road wheel off a vehicle.

I cannot get the rear wheel to separate from the hub/rotor on my Maaaaazda.

I've beat the crap out of it with a mallet, soaked it with Blaster PB and Kroil witih no luck.

Any new thoughts on how to get this done?

(Yes, the lugnuts are removed.)

Put lug nuts back on hand tight

drive around the block and "warm the tires"

Sometimes even putting the wheel on the ground is enough to break it lose

Another guy used a 12 gauge. He even made the newspaper.

I'd go with the loose nuts and drive around the block trick.

Bring it over... We've got all sorts of cutting devices you can try... I'm thinking just whittle the whole hub off with the plasma cutter....

Got a hydraulic jack?
1. Put the base of it against the inside of the wheel on the other side... or against something else on the frame.
2. Measure the distance between the "top" of the jack and the wheel/tire you can't remove.
3. Cut a piece of 2x4 or 4x4 or steel pipe that length and put it in the gap.
4. Jack away.

Thanks for the tips, guys.

Funny, as I could see how the guy that used the sawsall came to see that as the best solution.

I don't NEED to get the wheel off right now but I will be rebuilding the calipers in the next week or so. I'll give a couple of the non-violent, non-explosive techniques a try.

My thoughts exactly... Like today I was working in the shop... Did I need to catch some **** on fire? I mean I could have moved ALL the fire hazards before I fired up the welder.... But where is the fun in that? I moved the stuff with gas in it and went to town.....

I had a few small fires... They were contained and it added to the excitement!
