Vinyl LP
Anybody into vinyl - you know the old LPs. I always have and still am. Vinyl is taking off again, you can get alot of artists (new and old) on this format. The new turntables that are out now are unbelievable. Great engineering (just like if Porsche made them). You can not believe the sound quality difference in vinyl and CD played on a good sound system. Vinyl "breathes" and it feels more open.
Downloading music is not for me - maybe background noise. You loose so much fidelity with downloads - the music has to be compressed, than uncompressed, then go from a digital format to analog to hear it. Waste of time. I do have an iPod (actually - 3) one at my night stand (I like to listen to music with headphones at night when I can't get to sleep), one in my bimmer and one I take on trips (always listening to music on the plane). Anybody else? Thanks for listening |

I have an iPod which is great for running and connected to the stereo in my 944 as the jukebox in my basement will fail on both applications. That being said, I have bought some great records on eBay and old record shops for said jukebox that I often listen too all over our house. I too prefer the organic sound of vinyl over downloaded digital music.

Yes it is, just a bit beyond my means. I still use my "very" old Technics SL-D2.

Nothing like listening to the oldies on a 78 rpm Victrola with a steel needle. We have some Andrews Sisters records, and "Baby its Cold Outside" by Dinah Shore and Wes Clark. Awesome.
But you were probably talking about something a little more modern... ![]()

Ipod for the car's plug-in. But yeah, every so often, I "pull those records off the shelf"...

Wife bought me a USB turntable and put about 100 albums into my iPod. Not the same, but now I can carry them with me. Cream, Hendrix, Airplane, Doors, Allman Bros. that era.

Allot of the old obscure stuff isn't on CD so the USB table' s not a bad idea.
