Any body here know anything about old International Harverster tractors??

Hey, It cant hurt to ask, there is a ton of collective knowledge on this board.
I bought an old Cub Lo Boy 154 last year to mow my lawn. It runs , and works good. I just ran it all last season, and I have been tending to all the maintenence that it needs this season.
I was just getting ready to top up the transmission and final drives fluids , when I noticed that I have hydrualic lines that come in and out of the transmission. I am pretty sure that the final drives just take gear oil, but the hydraulic pump must be located in the gear box. I cannot find a hyd. pump anywhere else, and like I said, all of the hydraulic plumbing goes in and out of the transmission. I have ordered a service manual, and am waiting for it to come.
Any ideas what fluid the gearbox takes? Hydraulic fluid ?
This tractor is real similar to a regular cub , a pretty popular old tractor, so maybe someone here has messed with one before??
Thanks

Your system requires a universal hydraulic fluid aka torque fluid, power fluid, THF. Very different than your standard fair hydraulic oil. That fluid not only is used to transfer power to the hydraulic cylinders it also works the steering, wet brakes and the PTO as well as the hydrostatic transmission. Much chemistry is need to acomplish all that. I can help you.

Garage
Is it a Sunstrand unit? I worked at the plant that made them for a while in the '70's.

My wife's Grandfather left a really cool 63 IH pickup that I had my eye on. There is a place in Tualatin, Oregon that publishes literature on IH equipment. I think the name is Binder Books. Certainly the name Binder is in it.

Good luck. They are very well built machines.
